okay fuck it, I will not be defeated by annoying distractions.
Behold, a snippet from part two of A Safe Place
"What? Jealous Ares thinks I'm cool enough to hang out with too?" Seth says and Eve rolls her eyes. Seth leans in close and places his hand next to her ear like one would do when telling as secret, but he does not whisper like Ares would expect. Instead when he speaks, it is at a normal volume which Ares can easily overhear. "Don't worry, it's obvious you're his favorite." A statement that is very much true and not at all a secret. Eve should know she is the most important person to him. He had chosen her life over his own multiple times and would trade his life for hers now and always will. But perhaps this is another "being human" thing he needs to figure out. Which is the reason why he had requested Seth's assistance today. Well, one of the reasons why anyway. The other reason isn't one he can talk about with Eve in the room. Seth steps away from Eve and throws his arm over Ares' shoulders, or at least he tries to. "Okay how about we head to your room so we can have guy talk?" "I don't have a room," Ares states truthfully as he does not have a room of his own and instead shares Eve's. Seth turns back to Eve all confused, "You're not making him sleep on the couch are you? You have a perfectly—" "I do not sleep on the couch," Ares says. Eve's eyes go wide and she shakes her head at him. Ah, perhaps she is afraid of being viewed as an ungracious host. Easily rectifiable. "I sleep in Eve's bed." Eve groans and Seth's eyes get a twinkle. "You're sleeping with Eve?" "Yes." "No!" They both answer at the same time. Ares tilts his head to the side as he tries to understand why Eve would lie about this to someone she considers her best friend. Seth gets a huge grin and opens his mouth but Eve steps up into his space with a raised finger. "Don't. It's not like that. We just sleep." "Pretty sure it is like that," Seth says in a low voice before continuing in at normal volume. "But okay. Sure. I believe you. But still, we need somewhere to have guy talk. Is the guest bedroom where the guest should have been sleeping this whole time available?" "You are terrible. But yes."
