smarty is just the “adorkable” troupe done right
now I don’t know if any of you guys noticed this but Disney and other animation studios have kind of leaned towards the “adorkable troupe” which is essentially just a character that’s nerdy, a dork of course, and awkward. But their little flaws are what makes them likable and endearing.
now I don’t really have an issue with this troupe entirely. But it’s a way that it’s presented now. It seems the idea now is the character is clumsy, out of place, and just a social wreck in general. If I could name one for example, the new protagonist in disneys new movie Hexed. Which I KNOWWW hasn’t come out yet but shhhhh
Besides that, I think the fact we meet Smarty in a pretty much drunken state of mind says a lot about what type of character he is. When he finally gets his batteries back in, instead of focusing at the task at hand, he focuses on saving his friends. I think empathy also plays a big role in “dorky” characters. Because despite their flaws they’re actually generally good people. But today’s modern characters that follow that adorkable ideal usually just seem to misbehave. Which they rarely redeem, so how does it even make the characters likable?
I think if I could compare a character to smarty, bear with me, bandit from bluey. They’re playful, energetic, teasing, but they’re both able to set boundaries and clear understand of what they expect. You know this is kind of what pisses me off about people calling smarty a kid, he’s clearly a middle aged man dude.
thank you for coming to my ted talk and please Disney, Pixar, etc…if you’re reading this…keep doing characters like smarty. THIS is adorkable.

art by @dxzziie Oh dear, little Ash just got turned into a tiny Mewtwo! How did this happen? Well..... Ame (Amethyst) had recently heard from Professor Oak, the Pokemon researcher, in one of his many live videos about Pokemon and their powers and habbits, that Mew is said to use the move "transform" to look like other Pokemon, which could explain why so few sightings of Mew have ever been claimed. Ame, being a Mewtwo, wondered if she had that same power, as did her little brother Ash Ketchum. So, one night, Ash asked Ame to try and see if she could transform into another Pokemon. Ame, seeing no harm in trying, started try the move. There was a bright flash, and Ame wondered if it worked. Well.... it did, but not in the way she expected. The move hadn't transformed her. It had transformed Ash. No longer did he look like the little human boy that was her little brother. He looked.... just like her. Her transform move had transformed Ash into a tiny child Mewtwo. Ashtwo wasn't sure how to feel. Amazed? Shocked? Panicked? He just stared as his hands now looked like his big sister's and his hair was no longer there, but his tail now represented the black hair he used to have atop his head as human. Ame isn't sure how long the effects will last. And Ame, having been raised by Delia Ketchum, whom she considered her mom, knew she had to tell her mom, but, wow, this was gonna be one heck of an explanation, though, even then, she felt that mother Deila would find the situation cute, even if it was temporary, for however long it lasted. She couldn't deny, Ash did look adorable as tiny Ashtwo. Ashtwo just needed to figure out how to manage his tiny mewtwo form. He's not an expert in this form like his sister Ame. Luckily, she is there to help her tiny brother. Thanks again for making this piece @dxzziie Let me know what you all thought of the art and story. This was a bit of a call back to that one episode from Indigo League where a girl who was a "witch in training" if I remember correctly, who temporarily turned Ash into a Pikachu. This was just my own spin with my version of Mewtwo (Amethyst), being the one to transform Ash. Hope you all enjoyed.
