#Areed Association France have helped COF improve its water management system through a new storage tank and pump system. Now Areed are helping us introduce dry #composting toilets to some of the families we work with as a trial project. The dry toilet is well suited to our environment as water is hard to find in the hot season and water toilets are prone to flooding in rainy season. Assignment for 10/19
This reading appeals to me as pathos because the way it makes me feel. These girls are going thru so much hardship it doesnt make any sense. Pecola's father should be locked up in a crazy house. He tried to burn their house down. What kind of person does something like that? Their household doesnt seem stable because their not getting the proper love they need. Her father drinks and the mother is just so distance from the two and they get beat often. Then you have the brother running away from home. Its so much disfuction in this home its not possible to survive in these conditions. That would make anyone feel unwanted. As a child those things are very important because if those needs arent met then the children could possibily become rebelious. Pecola believes that if she had blue eyes she would be loved and her life would be transformed. Its crazy that this little girl is thinking this way and its so sad to me because everyone should love the skin their in. This is bad parenting on their part. The girl really thinks shes ugly because the kids at school make fun of her and she thinks shes already ugly. She seems to believe that being white is beautiful. I cant figure out why, maybe its the way their presented. I like this story a really good example of some of the everyday issues that we have in our society today. You have to teach our young people that you love them no matter white skin color they are and that its not all about color its about who you are as a person.

This reading is appealing to me because I think the whole article uses all three rhetorical styles. I say this because the three styles are represented in this reading some kind of way. To me logos represents the entire article. Then the women represents pathos, the men represents the ethos. The reason why I choose logos for the entire article is because their arguing the difference between men and women in many aspects. I choose pathos for the women because we can be such emotional creatures with so much added dramaticness to our character. Of course we have the men acting as the ethos because they overestimate themselves as if they authority over everything. Which is so annoying to me. I'm versatile about some of the things that were said in this reading. I agree that men and women are different but I also feel that there is some gender discrimination amongst the two. Yes men and women spend their time different. A women I feel may take things a little more serious than a man. For the simple fact is a woman prepares herself by planning ahead doing extra curricular activities. When a man when spend half of the afternoon doing nothing but playing the video game. Men really don't have the focus and drive that women do. The studies have shown that women have higher GPA's then men in college because they are less interested in studying. My have the tables have turned. I think men have always wanted women to depend on them and in this century it's not happening. The women are working really hard at what they do and what their trying to accomplish and it's working. More and more women are coming up in so many different fields and taking away some of the jobs that the men used to do.

Assignment # 4
The reading is very interesting and weird at the same time. I had to read the passage three times to make some connections in the story. A Modest Proposal gives alot of information and I think the concept of the story is to find a cheap and easy way for preventing children from starving in Ireland. The poverty is very bad and the women would have 3,4 and 6 children all in rags because the women couldn't support all of those children. The women of Ireland didn't work they just used all their time begging in the streets to feed and cloth their children. So they came up with this idea to fatten up the undernourished children and feed them to the Ireland's rich land-owners which wasn't a pretty good idea to me. I think they have went way to far and could really stand to go back to the drawing board and think again. Children of the poor could be sold into a market at the age of one will help families fight unemployment and the expense of having a child and not being able to care for them and providing them with extra money by selling their children. Then they give stats that support their theory or data about the number of children to be sold, their weight and price. The authors says their outcome will result in husbands treating their wives better, parents valuing their children a little more. Seems like Ireland is having a population problem.
