A Broken Crown
(( closed rp with @decidxeye )) It was a day like most other days in the Arctics of Sinnoh. Cold. Dismal. Unforgiving. The sun glinting over a cluster of glaciers cast a ray of light out onto the flat plains and the Dewgong watched their pups playing in the fresh snow, taking advantage of the slight warmth the rare sunlight provided. The one difference, however, was the distinct lack of regal, emerald-green eyes watching over it as they so often did. In fact, the King was nowhere in sight. His usual perch on the highest balcony of the palace was as empty as the arctic itself, and upon inspection, so was the rest of the gigantic ice structure. In fact, it had been a full day since anyone had seen the great Dukevier, and he hadn't been out on his patrols in months due to the new face in the palace, so few of the wild Pokémon even noticed his unusual abscence. But it was still there. Lurking. That comfort and protection that his watchful eyes usually gave was now gone, and the whole place felt open and vulnerable without it. Had he told anyone he would be leaving? He wasn't the type for approaching anyone else, he usually waited for people to approach him instead, so nobody could have known unless they had specifically asked beforehand. There was, however, hardly anybody there to ask him. It seemed no soul was even around to hear the movement down in the forbidden lower floor of the palace, down the dark spiral staircase that nobody dared ever enter... The occasional distant, echoing noise of an animalistic snarl, sob or cry; it was barely even noticeable, but it was the only giveaway to the Kings possible location...
