Autodesk Revit is a great Building Information Modeling (BIM) tool for architects, engineers, designers, and coordinators. 

If you are starting with Autodesk Revit, it is very difficult but still a simple user interface and easy to learn command tools make it easier. From beginner level to master level, Revit can take a year or more.

1. Begin with Small-Scale Pilot Project To use Autodesk Revit as a beginner, you need to sharpen your learning curve. Do not focus on advanced tools at the beginning.

You must start with a small-scale project. Create a pilot project and design more and more to improve your models. 

2. Do Not Go for Free Components Many manufacturing and independent resources have started providing ready-to-use components that can be hampered by your BIM drawings.

Most often, these components are not built for the same reason that you are looking for. So, even if it looks simple, do not use free components, especially at the beginner level.

4. You Should Know the Difference Between Sheets and Views Views are actual live views of your Revit BIM model that can be placed on sheets. Sheets are used only for printing and you can choose among a variety of paper sizes or create a custom one. A view can only be placed on one sheet and cannot be used on multiple sheets. 

5. Customize Double Click Revit family Shortcut As a beginner, you should avoid an accidental double click issue as it takes the user to the family shortcut. You can update the function of the double click of a Family in the Options dialog. Under R>Options>User Interface, the Double click options button is located and select Do nothing option.

Now whenever you accidentally double click a Family, it won’t automatically open up the Edit Family window. Instead, you’ll have to click the Edit Family button at the top toolbar.

This will save your work on the network server. If you want to share that model with someone you can only do this with that facility of Revit.

7. Copy Elements to Clipboard The copy of the clipboard tool copies one or more elements to the clipboard. You can paste from the clipboard and copy the same elements on another project.

There are many options to paste from clipboard like align to the selected levels, align to selected views, align to the current view, and more. 

8. Model Linking and Cloud-Based Work-sharing System You can import and link models with different file formats like DWG. For sorting the central model, you must need a networked server. If you don’t have this server, you can use Revit in a cloud-based system.
