The woman who posted the ALA haul video that sparked the ARCgate debate has posted a very thoughtful response.

Note that in this debate, I am neither Team Book Blogger nor Team Librarian. I’ve seen bad behavior on both sides, as well as good behavior on both sides. I’ve also fallen victim to the bad behavior and grabbed too many free books as well. Want to know what breaks you of the habit? A 9 pound overage on your checked baggage that costs you an additional $50.
As I'm a new librarian and haven't yet attended ALA (nor BEA), I'm posting a link to the post that I feel best sums up my feelings on the current #ARCgate taking twitter and the blogosphere by storm.
As a bookblogger I've always been gobsmacked that other bloggers who aren't otherwise part of the industry (either publishing or librarianship) flock cross country to these professional conferences -- often just for the ARCs. Maybe it's because I've moved house five times and each time I've had to lug my own collection of books. I know just exactly how heavy a bag or box of 150 books is.
So when I go to ALA (hopefully next year), I'll be going for the panel discussions. I might bring back one or two books but that's it. When it comes to ARCs, I prefer the egalley variety. They're much lighter!
