Sometimes Rey wakes up in the middle of the night screaming. It’s been like this since the Supremacy fell, flashes of everything that’s happened, all the darkness that threatens her, wants to swallow her whole. She knows these aren’t her nightmares alone but she’s grateful. A part of her that knows the person on the other side of these nightmares--she won’t name him-- doesn’t get the same comfort and care she does when he wakes. Good.

“Hey, hey. I’m here, I’ve got you.” Finn whispers against Rey’s skin as he wraps his arms around her, “It’s just a bad dream.”

From the currently untitled ‘was supposed to be a drabble but it escaped from me’ fic that is for the wonderful and lovely @mollynoble (there isn’t much dialogue between Hux and Ren yet so 3 sentences is what you get) (Reposting because I felt like maybe I shouldn’t have reblogged the post and I’m too awkward and nervous to just let it be...)

A man in a mask that was made to seem intimidating and important was not a man Hux wanted to be sociable with. He could respect power and he could respect a forceful presence, but he could not abide by the superiority complex of a man who had no claim to it.

The bottle cap hit the water tower of the adjacent building with a muted clang. Clint grinned at Bucky and held another cap out for him.

“Your turn.”

“How do you do that? Snap it like that?” Bucky asked, holding the cap trying to mimic the way Clint had held it but feeling clumsy.

“Trick I learned as a kid. Dad drank a lot. Here.”

He leaned over into Bucky’s space to help him adjust his grip. If he let his touch linger a moment longer than necessary neither of them commented.

“It’s all in the wrist movement. Snap and flick at the same time.”

Bucky took a deep breath and let the bottle cap go on the exhale. The same way he shot a target with his rifle. Clint had seen the concentration before. It was oddly sexy, not that he’d ever say that out loud. The cap flew across the space between buildings but fell short, hitting the scaffolding that held the tank up. 

“Good shot.”

“Not good enough.” Bucky huffed. Clint offered him a sly grin, reaching into the cooler next to him and offering the other a beer.
