“Three, two, one- !” He lifted her suddenly, spinning her around and letting her legs wrap around his waist as the cheers of ‘Happy New Year!’ rang around them and their lips met hungrily. It had been Verity’s idea ( instruction ) to not kiss until it was actually midnight, and she’d been teasing him all night for just that reason. Finally it was midnight, a new year, a new world of possibilities, and even as the crowds started to quiet he didn’t let her down, only brought his hand up to cup the back of her neck, intent to make up for the hours he could have been kissing her all night during the party instead of watching everything with a dick flirt their asses off with her. 

She was his and he intended to make sure every asshole in this party knew it.

“You’re-?” The words barely registered at first, but once they did his face lit up. “You’re- holy shit! Baby!” He crowed, rolling off the bed and lunging for her to scoop her into his arms. “Holy shit,” he was grinning, and then just as suddenly he wasn’t. While having a kid wasn’t the literal worst thing he could think of, their situation very well might be. “Holy shit.” He repeated a third time, his tone dropping as the weight of the realization hit him.
