Just think about how even if Gina had survived the mountain explosion, if Bellamy had still gone on his Pike-based spiral, all the angst we could have had. Level headed, peacekeeper Gina watching her bf spiral like that. Them breaking up even. Him unable to stop his quest to blame and get vengeance on the grounders that almost killed her and did kill dozens of others, not to mention the still-stinging wound of the og mountain abandonment. Her hating that she has to watch him isolate himself from his friends and family and the way Pike manipulates his fear and anger at the grounders. Her still caring about Bellamy and trying to get through to him while everyone else just blames him and villainizes him.
Her focusing more on Raven and their friendship, and Monty and his constant attempts to seek peace. Her befriending Lincoln because he too was a calm, collected person in a land of emotionally spiraling people.
HER BEING A NORMAL, THOUGHTFUL, NON-EMOTIONAL-ROLLER-COASTER SPOT OF CALM IN SEASON 3.
HER MATTERING MORE THAN JUST AS A WAY TO HURT BELLAMY TO FURTHER A PLOT LINE.

Fun facts about Gina Martin in no particular order 3/?
Gina would be extremely well suited to being a teacher in both t100 and alt verses- she’s kind, patient, she loves kids, and she genuinely likes helping people. But in her t100 and her modern verses, she forgoes what she wants to do in favor of what is best for her family.
If Gina didn’t have to worry about credits, she’d teach. But she is hyper aware that as the only child, when her parents get older and can’t work, they’ll become a strain on the station and they’ll rely on her for credits and therefor for their ability to eat. There is more ability for career advancement and for stability in research, in working in Alpha station, and that job is one that could help her help her parents in their old age, so that’s the job she goes for.
And she enjoys her job in research, don’t get me wrong. She likes facts and she likes digging around to find things, and she enjoys the people she works with even on the days her job is dull and she can hear the little kids laughing and running about as classes let out. But it’s a job she picked out of familial obligation, not passion. If she were to let herself be selfishly passionate, she’d be a teacher.

Fun facts about Gina Martin in no particular order 2/?
Re: the first point here; Gina is the type of girl who genuinely stays friends with exes ( if they’re willing too, ofc ). She has a couple more in modern than she does in t100, but no matter the verse, Gina is the chill, go-with-the-flow kind of person that can genuinely stay friends with an ex after a breakup.
As mentioned in that above post, she gets that things don’t always work out, and that includes relationships. She’s not going to be mad, she still wants the best for her exes. They are almost always friends before they’re boyfriends ( even just by merit of her generally friendly nature ) and for Gina at least, those friend-feelings of wanting you to be happy and be your best self don’t go away just because you both didn’t work as a couple.
Fun facts about Gina Martin in no particular order 1/?
Gina, believe it or not, has two big things in common with Louis- they both don’t see any point in overthinking relationships (loosely using the term in lou’s case), they prefer to just enjoy the other person’s company while they’re together and not worry about the future or putting pressure on relationships.
Second thing is that both go for what they want. Gina admittedly wasn’t this way when she was a pre-teen, but from teenagedom onward, if she liked a boy, she flirted with him. If she wanted to be picked as a partner, she asked the person. And when she decided to go into research, she asked research assistants to help her prepare. If she sees something, she’ll make the effort to go for it, but takes rejection in stride. Not everything works out, and she recognizes that.
