Can we just talk about how Legolas has probably spent decades pining over Aragorn. And how he's loved him so deeply in every way, and didn't believe there was ever going to be someone else who could possibly match Aragorn. But then Arwen comes along and she is unfailingly kind and devoted and Legolas can see that they would go to the ends of the earth for each other. He can see that she is everything he believes he could never be. So he steps back and resigns himself to the role of friend, supporting Aragorn and Arwen and willing to die for them if necessary just to see Aragorn happy. Because every time I think about it I want to sob.
