I got a couple of asks over on Discord (that I kept forgetting about, apologies friends!), so we're finally answering them here and now!
🧃 (Juicebox) - What species are they? What’s their biology and physiology like? Do they differ in any way from a ‘typical’ member of their species?
Bobbin is an Arachknit! Kind of a hodge podge of Arachnids, Demonbeasts, and yarn. She's kind of the only one of her kind, or at least, so I've been saying (been thinking of changing that as of late). Given she's the only one, she has no baseline of comparison for what she's supposed to be like, but she's constantly learning new things about herself. Like she doesn't know she could have claws until she eventually meets Taranza. Honestly, she doesn't know a lot of things about the spider parts of her physiology until she meets Taranza. ^^''' I need to make that happen soon.
Compared to other spider arachnids, Bobbin does not need to have all six of her hands out at all times. Four of them are magic constructs that she can will away as needed (this is partially to make my life easier as an artist). Her eyes are also a very different shape, more ovals than circles. She does not have horns/pincers at her current age, but there's potential she may get some as she's older. Her color scheme is much more in line with the bright and pastel nature of Patchland, which is very different from the earthy/neutral palettes of other arachnids and demonbeasts.
That said, she also doesn't quite fit in with Patchlanders either. Bobbin has a lot more felt on her than your average Patchlander, which inhibits her ability to shapeshift. The felt is harder to rearrange than yarn, thus she is relying far more heavily on her magic staff for getting around. She also carries a lot more yarn on her in her buns, which makes her a little top heavy by comparison. Her facial eyes are not buttons, but her spidery eyes are beads, so they're extra sparkly compared to a lot of people. In fact, on the topic of eyes, Bobbin has stars in her eyes often when excited or awestruck, which is not a feature of any of her respective parts. That's purely a her thing.
🐛 (Caterpillar) - What are your OC’s greatest fears, and why? How do they act or react when they’re afraid?
Ooh, that's a tough one! Bobbin has a lot of things that scare her. Getting so wet that she's too weighed down to move/gets moldy, getting stuck in glitter glue (or really any glue), her guardian figures being disappointed in her, losing all of her wonderful friends, like I could go on.
I think, deep down, Bobbin is afraid of not being enough. She spent so long trapped under Yin Yarn's control, alone in her little tower with no one to really, encourage her. Even after kicking his butt, she's still scared that it was all a fluke, that she just got lucky. Him coming back and threatening her again (which is currently what's happening in the world of RP) is her worst nightmare. He hurt her, badly. And the idea of him doing what he did to her to anyone else she cares about...even though he friends are strong, she's so scared of that. No one deserves to go what she went through.
When she's scared, she gets angry, she gets irrational. She fights harder, gets reckless. But sometimes, she's paralyzed. Can't move, she's stuck trembling, so many thoughts running through her head that she can't focus. It's awful.
🕸️ (Spiderweb) - Create a bouquet inspired by your OC! It can be based on their colour palette, flower language and symbolism, whatever they like best, or any combination of the three.
Oooh okay, I'm not super knowledgeable on flower meanings, so I'm mostly rolling with colors here. I think Bobbin's bouquet would have a lot of hydrangeas in pinks and purples. They're so fluffy and whimsical. She might also have some delphinium for its fun shapes. Maybe some Russian sage? And a little bit of day lilies. They're all flowers she would like I think.
