so i upgraded my betta from a 5 to 10 gallon tank a few months ago and he loves it but i reallllly want to rescape it again

Can anyone recommend a really nice mid ground plant, I’m looking for a water column feeder, really tough so I don’t kill it, preferably something that I can plant over sticking to rocks & isn’t an anubius. Is there such a thing?
Fishy tank progress I need some more plants, hopefully get some deeper green, smaller plants for the front & one more bushier one for covering the filter. These ones end up moving too much from the filter (even on the lowest setting & directed at the glass). Hopefully something the betta can hide under for shade. When the wood stays sunken better, I’ll obviously take the rock off it. Tanks been cycling for about 4 days now, so still a long way to go to be fish ready. I really wanted black substrate but the second fish shop place told me it would leak dye & hurt the fishy 🙁
I’m not confident that the plants will survive as they’ve moved again when I was placing the wood & rocks today.
It’s a 45 litre (almost 12gallons) tank & I’ll have a betta in there. It’s pretty basic, but I like how it’s looking, given I’ve never done this before.
Does anyone do gh, ph, & kh stuff? The second fish shop were really insistent on it, but I’ve seen mixed opinions on if it matters given the fish probably have lived their life so far in tap water just with conditioner
If anyone is going to give feedback, do so nicely. I’m doing the best I can & researched a lot. The wood looks spikey too, but it’s all been made smooth on the ends before I got it.

Been a long time since I posted here ain't it? Well here's an update from last time all of my current set ups, all is doing well, the 30 long especially is blowing the rest out of the water! Though it's lost its blackwater feel for the time being it stays emaculate no matter how much I feed, even tje glass stays clean! The rest have been fighting a small hair algae issue bit mostly under control now. Opaline gourami has moved from the 20 gallon to the 100 hes much happier and opened up space for a pair of blue rams which I've been wary of kerping in my 7.4 ph tap water but these guys were locally bred in a ph of 7.8 so shpuld be fibe, so far so good. Still a lot of things to do as always bit all fish are happy so no rush at all!

Tank updates: lots of plants, filter media has been changed to sponges, added India almond leaves (which is what Raziel is chilling under). Still need to get a gentler sponge filter for the bottom tank. Any recs for a 6.5?
