HAHA, APRIL FOOLS! GOT YA BITCH! 

Hey folks,

a few days ago, I visited a comic artist training, run by very talented comic artists. They had a lot of good tips for me to expand my audience and improve my style. I feel like I should share my experiences with you, since it already helped me A LOT!

First of all they analyzed my style. They said, I'm good but I can do better. I just had to change some things after the rules they gave me in this lesson. Here are some of the rules that suited me the most.

1. Non human characters are from the 90's and everything none human attracts furries. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's only a small piece of the whole audience cake. Making the main protagonist a human and some side characters anthropomorphic characters will do the trick.

2. Cartoon style is outdated. Semirealism, western comic style or manga are the styles people want. I had to rework everything :(

3. Anathomy is important, but that only applies to male characters. Here I was allowed to exaggerate the male body only a bit, but for female bodies I have full artistic freedom from cup size "huge" to "super huge".

4. Original designs are welcome, but being too original is something most viewers can't deal with. So I had to simplify some of my designs. For example Nymn. Nobody can empathy with an old, blind alien with four ears. Parts of her design just seemed to be off. My teachers had the amazing idea to turn her into some cheeta character with a fresh and sexy personality.

5. Superpowers don't need to be explained. A hero doesn't need any backgrounds for his powers, since readers are only interested in what he's doing with this stuff. Same for character writing. Make it as flat and easy as possible so people won't be overwhelmed by too much information.

6. Draw the same poses over and over again. People will recognize it from your other artwork which is good. It determines your style and increases your recall value. Also people will think you know what you're doing.

At the end of the lesson I had to make fast 5 minute sketches to show what I've learned. Also they gave me the hint that NSFW art is another good audience magnet. See the NSFW version here:
