âââââââ-âââââââ-ââââââââââââ-
It wasnât the plan, far from it. The games were about to begin, a new set of victims and trapsâback to the same cycle they were all used to. But this time was different, someone having a âbrightâ idea, which according to them, the apprentices needed something to lighten up the place.
To no surprise, it was Adamâs idea.
Cats. Adam wanted cats at the meat plant. Now, Lawrence was more accustomed to itâbeing his fiancĂŠ, he knew Adam loved cats. For Amanda and Hoffman, it was a strange surprise to them to say the least. Amanda knew cats shouldnât be around there, there were death traps at every corner! Hoffman though was purely annoyed at the thought of animals messing with his work. John didnât mind, usually only involving himself with the apprentices personal matters if it was an argument.
âIsnât this one just so damn cute?â Adam cooed, his hands softly petting the orange fur of the cat. Lawrence playfully rolled his eyes, leaning down slightly to get a glimpse of the cat.
âIndeed, Adam. Heâs a pretty cat, if I do say so myself.â Lawrence spoke, a tender tone going along with it.
The room went tensely silent as Hoffman sauntered in, a scowl forming on his face when he spotted the cat.
âWhat the fuck is a cat doing here. Who did this.â
Adam sighed, standing up and facing Hoffman.
âWell, I did. Got a problem with that, poster boy?â Adamâs smile tugged into a smirk, almost as if he was challenging Hoffman.
âAdam, pleaseââ Lawrence interrupted, along with a concerned expression.
The catâs purrs echoed through the room, which he eventually made his way to Adamâs legs and started rubbing up against them and his jeans. Adam gave Hoffman one last mocking look before leaning back down to pay attention to the cat.
âHeâs got some friends too, Iâll be right back!â Adam scurried to the corner of the room, unlatching the crate which carried more various cats, causing Hoffman to roll his eyesâbut he remained silent.
Amanda eventually heard the hustle and bustle coming from the room, and made her way inside. Her eyes went wide as she noticed the cats exploring the warehouse room.
âCats?!â Amanda questioned, in shock.
Now, she wasnât mad about the cats being there because she didnât like themâshe was just worried for their wellbeing.
âAre you sure theyâre safe, I meanâshit!â
âChill out, Mandy, theyâre fine! I cleared out all the death traps!â he remarked, making quotation signs with his hands with the words âdeath traps.â He was just going to keep them in the room, show them off, then take them back to his and Lawrenceâs apartment. Hoffman proceeded standing there, then huffed out. Adam couldnât help but chuckle at how heated he got, just because of a few cats.
âIf you say so.â
Amanda leaned down to see a grey cat meowing for her attention. Her eyes softened at the look of the cat, beginning to pet her delicate fur. Adam then handed Lawrence the tortoise-shell cat in the bunchâthe cat perching onto Larryâs shoulder with a soft purr.
âAdam, you really outdid yourself.â Lawrence hummed, leaning in for a soft peck on Adamâs lips.
Adam took Larryâs cat and set it down gently, giving Lawrence a soft hug.
âHey you two, cut the rom-com shit! We better get back to our work.â Amanda reminded them, dusting her hands on her cargo pants. âGet those cats back in that crate.â
Adam slowly disconnected himself from Lawrenceâs embrace, and gathered the cats one-by-one into the crate. Amanda flashed him and the cats a smile as she creaked open the door, leaving the room.
âIâd better head back to my office. Love you, and the cats. Iâll see you at home, Adam.â Lawrence spoke, his hand resting on Adamâs cheek.
âLove you, Larry.â
