TEMESI APOL - textiltervezĆ/textile designer
Nagyon szeret lomtalanĂtani, bolhapiacozni, nagy bĂștorfelĂșjĂtĂł, kedvenc tĂĄrgya egy rĂłzsaszĂn-arany-fehĂ©r csĂkos 1 espresso-s mini termosz a 60-as Ă©vekbĆl, minden Ă©vben tart egy olyan hĂłnapot, amikor nem beszĂ©l a munkĂĄjĂĄrĂłl. AmĂșgy meg rakott krumpli, földimogyorĂł krĂ©m Ă©s Szentendre.
She likes the junk-clearance in the city, or to go to the flea-market, she likes to renovate furniture, her favorite object is a one-espresso mini thermos with pink-gold-white stripes form the â60s, every year for a month she doesn't talk about her work. And anyway layered potato, peanut butter, and Szentendre.

Mi a legkedvesebb gyerekkori emlĂ©ked?/What is your favorite childhood memory? NagycsalĂĄdban nĆttem fel, öten vagyunk testvĂ©rek, Ă©n vagyok a legkisebb. NĂ©hĂĄny egymĂĄst követĆ nyĂĄron az unokatesĂłimmal Ă©s a szomszĂ©d gyerekekkel âGyerekbĂĄltâ tartottunk, meghĂvtuk a környĂ©kbelieket Ă©s komplett kis mƱsort adtunk elĆ mini szĂndarabokkal Ă©s vicces jelenetekkel. Ekkor lĂ©ptem a szĂnre piros-fehĂ©r csĂkos puffos ujjĂș kis ruhĂĄban Ă©s könnyedĂ©n szĂ©tpattintottam az öklömnyi vastag fahusĂĄngot. ĂriĂĄsi ovĂĄciĂł, a dombon ĂŒlĆ felnĆtt nĂ©zĆközönsĂ©g tapsviharban tört ki!! MeghajlĂĄs Ă©s szaladĂĄs. Ăs ezutĂĄn mĂ©g sok-sok kuncogĂĄs...
I grew up in a big family, I have four siblings, I am the youngest amongst the five. A few consecutive summers we organized a âKidâs Ballâ with my cousins and the neighbor kids. We invited everyone from around and we had a complete show for entertainment with mini theatre plays and funny scenes. We dressed up, handed out tickets, we had a registry. We were very prepared. One of these summers, I was around 4 years old at the time, my older brother and my cousin tried very hard to break a tree branch, of course without any luck. Every muscle in their bodies was involved in the procedure, but they couldnât succeed. This was the moment when I stepped on the stage in my red-white striped, puffy-sleeved dress and I easily broke the branch into half. Huge ovation, the adults who were watching from the mound started clapping. I took a bow and ran off. A lot of laughter followed...
Mit Ă©rzel, amikor egy mĂĄsik mƱvĂ©sz a tiĂ©dhez hasonlĂł munkĂĄt kĂ©szĂt?/What do you feel when another artist does something similar to your work?
If itâs about collegiality, I feel joy, and I start to think about how could we work together to create something exciting. Collaboration, creating community, exhibition. To buck each other up and to support each other intellectually to do something, we can only do. If itâs plagiarism, then I get angry pretty quickly, I cannot understand this kind of leeching. If you as a creating artist donât have ideas on your own, then you are predestined to have a short run in your career anyways.
What would you like to be remembered by? âŠhogy mennyire szerettem. A leendĆ fĂ©rjemet, gyerekeimet, csalĂĄdomat, barĂĄtaimat, munkatĂĄrsaimat Ă©s a munkĂĄmat.
...by how much I loved. My to be husband, my children, my family, my friends, my colleagues and my job...
GyƱjtesz valamit?/Are you collecting something? Furcsa kis tĂĄrgyakat, rĂ©gi fĂ©mdobozokat, anyukĂĄm szerint kacatokat :D de ezek nyilvĂĄnvalĂłan kincsek ;) Nagyon szeretek lomtalanĂtani, bolhapiacozni, nagy bĂștorfelĂșjĂtĂł vagyok, a rĂ©gi, szĂ©p, mĂșlttal rendelkezĆ tĂĄrgyakat szeretem.
Strange little objects, old metal boxes, according to my mother: junk :D, but these are not junk but rather treasure ;). I love the junk-clearance, to go to the flea-market, I love to renovate furniture, I like old, beautiful objects that have a past.
Van olyan gyerekes szokĂĄsod, amit akkor csinĂĄlsz, amikor senki nem figyel?/Do you have a childish habit that you do when nobody is watching? A nagymamĂĄm pudingjĂĄrĂłl valĂł ĂĄlmodozĂĄs, vagy a kĂ©pzelt barĂĄtnĆmmel valĂł ĂŒcsörgĂ©s ide tartozik? :D
Does daydreaming about my grandmaâs pudding or to sit around with my imaginary girlfriend belong to this category? :D
Mi volt a legnagyobb ĆrĂŒltsĂ©g, amit eddig csinĂĄltĂĄl?/What was the craziest thing you have ever done?
When I went to Turkey with the Erasmus program. I dealt with a lot of things to get ready for this, except for the accommodation part which I liked to ignore altogether. I was hoping it will get solved by itself, but like most of the time, this tactic did not bring the expected solution⊠The day of my travel was getting closer by the minute, so I decided I will solve the issue in an instant, so I googled: âIzmĂr flatâ. I had a hit⊠and this is how I ended up being the flatmate of a Turkish, an Argentinian, and a Russian girl in the party district of IzmĂr. Â
Van-e napi rutinod?/Do you have a daily routine? Kéne?
Should I?
Kedvenc tĂĄrgyad?/Favorite object? TĂĄvol ĂĄlljon a kivĂ©telezĂ©s, de a legaktuĂĄlisabb egy rĂłzsaszĂn-arany-fehĂ©r csĂkos 1 espresso-s mini termosz a 60-as Ă©vekbĆl. TalĂĄlt gyöngyszem! Pontosan annyit tud, amennyit ĂgĂ©r.
I donât want to exclude anything, but right now my favorite is a pink-gold-white striped one-espresso mini thermos from the â60s. Itâs a treasure found. It knows exactly what you would expect.
Hogyan fogsz neki egy Ășj munkĂĄnak?/How do you get started on a new project? A mostani munkĂĄmat, ahol textilipari maradĂ©kokbĂłl fejlesztek akusztikai paneleket, ami egy anyagfejlesztĂ©ssel egybekötött struktĂșra tervezĂ©s, több Ă©vig kĂ©szĂtettem elĆ. A problĂ©ma feltĂĄrĂĄsa, a lehetsĂ©ges alapanyagok felkutatĂĄsa, az anyagismeret elsajĂĄtĂtĂĄsa Ă©s a lehetsĂ©ges vĂĄlaszok feltĂ©rkĂ©pezĂ©se szĂ©p Ă©s komplex feladat volt, amit a gazdasĂĄgi szempontokkal is össze kellett fĂ©sĂŒlni. A munka minden egyes lĂ©pĂ©sĂ©nĂ©l figyeltem a kĂŒlföldi tanulmĂĄnyokat, tĂ©mĂĄba vĂĄgĂł kiĂĄllĂtĂĄsokat, Ăgy Ă©rlelĆdött bennem a koncepciĂł. Minden egyes kĂsĂ©rlet közelebb vitt az anyag valĂłdi megismerĂ©sĂ©hez Ă©s kirajzolta a relevĂĄns felhasznĂĄlĂĄsi terĂŒleteit. A tartalom Ă©s a formai megjelenĂ©s egymĂĄs mellett alakul. Egyszerre több dolog forog bennem, nyitott szemmel Ă©rlelgetem magamban, aprĂł rĂ©szletmegoldĂĄsok rakĂłdnak hozzĂĄ ĂĄltalĂĄban teljesen mĂĄs terĂŒletekrĆl. AztĂĄn jön egy rövid kĂsĂ©rleti fĂĄzis, skiccelĂ©s Ă©s vĂ©gĂŒl, ha megĂ©rik a döntĂ©s, nekivĂĄgok Ă©s onnan nincs megĂĄllĂĄs.
My current project, to make acoustic panels out of textile industry left-overs, which is material development combined with structure planning, took years of preparation. The exposition of the issue, the search for possible materials, to acquire the knowledge of materials, and to map out the possible solutions was a nice yet very complex task, which had to be merged with economical aspects as well. At every step of my work, I was looking out for foreign studies, exhibitions about the theme, this is how my conception was formed. Â Every single experiment took me closer to really knowing the material and outdrew the relevant areas of use. Content and formal representation form side by side. More than one thing is on my mind at the same time, I process them with eyes wide open, tiny detail solutions are being added form other fields. This is followed by a short experimenting phase, sketching and then, at last, a decision is made, I start and I donât stop from that point on.
Van egy jĂłl körĂŒlhatĂĄrolhatĂł hangulat, amikor könnyebb szĂĄmodra az alkotĂĄs?/Is there a specific mood/atmosphere that makes creating easier for you? A pattanĂĄsig feszĂŒlt helyzet.
A very tense situation. If the decision is made, I have a concrete idea, I want to get started. I am an abrupt person -like my mother- I have to start right away.
Kutya vagy macska?/Dog or cat? Ember!
Human!
Mi az, ami a leginkĂĄbb feltölt?/What can recharge you the most? SĆt, ilyenkor kifejezetten olyan tevĂ©kenysĂ©gekre helyezem a hangsĂșlyt, ami kikerget a komfortzĂłnĂĄmbĂłl.
Every year there is a month when I simply donât talk about my work. Moreover, I try to emphasize doing things that are getting me out of my comfort zone. I need this distance so that I can stay objective, and to rebalance myself.
Kedvenc vĂĄros?/Favorite city? MĂĄr sok Ă©ve Budapesten Ă©lek, de a legmĂ©lyebb kötĆdĂ©sem SzentendrĂ©hez köt. Ott rakott le a gĂłlya, lettem kĂ©t copfos ĂłvodĂĄs, soha eleget nem prĂłbĂĄlĂł zeneiskolĂĄs, elcsatangolĂł kiskamasz, trapĂ©z nadrĂĄgos nagy kamasz. Azok az utcĂĄk Ă©s helyszĂnek Ă©gtek belĂ©m.
I live in Budapest for many years now, but my deepest connection is to Szentendre. The stork delivered my there, thatâs where I became a kindergarten student with pigtails, a pupil at the music school who never practiced enough, a young teenager who wandered around, and an adolescent with trapezoid pants. Those streets and scenes are the ones that are closest to my heart.
Kedvenc Ă©tel?/Favorite food? Az Ă©tel, ami örök kedvencem, a Rakott krumpli! KĂŒlönöskĂ©ppen szĂŒletĂ©snapi tortakĂ©nt ;) Az Ă©tel viszont, ami szinte fĂŒggĆsĂ©get okoz, de nĂ©ha barĂĄtsĂĄgok detonĂĄtora, az a földimogyorĂł krĂ©m.
My all-time favorite is layered potatoes. Especially if it comes in the form of a birthday cake ;). But the food that causes addiction and can be a detonator of friendships is peanut butter.
What is that one artwork you have to do before you die? Amit a New York-i MoMA-ban kiĂĄllĂtok :D
The one I will exhibit at the MoMA in New York :D

â2014-ben diplomĂĄztam a Moholy-Nagy MƱvĂ©szeti Egyetemen textiltervezĆkĂ©nt. MunkĂĄimban a struktĂșra tervezĂ©s Ă©s az alapanyag centrikus gondolkodĂĄs dominĂĄl. Az Egyetemen folytatott doktori kutatĂĄsomban az ipari maradĂ©kok mĂĄsodlagos Ă©letĂ©t vizsgĂĄlom, s ezeknek felhasznĂĄlĂĄsi terĂŒleteit tĂ©rkĂ©pezem fel. A textilipari maradĂ©kokra tekinthetĂŒnk hulladĂ©kkĂ©nt, vagy lehetĆsĂ©geket magĂĄban rejtĆ nyersanyagkĂ©nt. Ha ĂșjraĂ©rtelmezĂ©se sorĂĄn eredeti jĂł tulajdonsĂĄgait kihasznĂĄljuk Ă©s a megdolgozĂĄsĂĄval tovĂĄbbiakkal egĂ©szĂtjĂŒk ki, megtalĂĄlhatjuk Ășj felhasznĂĄlĂĄsi terĂŒleteiket. Ăgy a korĂĄbban teherkĂ©nt jelenlĂ©vĆ anyagokra ismĂ©t alapanyagkĂ©nt tekinthetĂŒnk. KoncentrĂĄlva a textilipari hulladĂ©kokra, sajĂĄt technolĂłgiĂĄmmal olyan alapanyag fejlesztĂ©s vĂĄlik lehetĆvĂ©, ahol a nyersanyag egĂ©szen Ășj karakterĂ©ben mutatja meg magĂĄt Ă©s alkalmassĂĄ vĂĄlik belsĆĂ©pĂtĂ©szeti felhasznĂĄlĂĄsra is. Az Ăgy lĂ©trehozott akusztikai panelek funkcionĂĄlis Ă©s kĂ©pzĆmƱvĂ©szeti falburkolatok egyben. A fejlesztĂ©s 2018-ban Ă©s 2019-ben KlĂma-innovĂĄciĂłs dĂjat nyert, valamint a 2019-es Moholy ĂsztöndĂjat is elnyerte.â
âI finished my diploma in 2014 at the Moholy-Nagy University of Arts and Design as a textile designer. My work is dominated by structure planning and material centric thinking. In my doctoral research at the University, I am examining the secondary life of textile industry leftovers, and I am mapping out the usage of these materials. We can consider the textile industry leftovers as waste, or as an opportunity to find raw material within. When reusing these materials we use their originally good characteristics and while working with it we complement it with others, we can find the new fields of using these materials. This way these materials that were considered as waste, can be considered as basic materials. By concentrating on textile industry waste and by using my technology it is possible to develop a new kind of base material, where the raw material can show off new characters and becomes suitable for interior design as well. The acoustic panels created in such a manner are both functional and artistic wall covers as well. This innovation won the Climate-innovation price in 2018 and 2019, and also won the Moholy Scholarship in 2019.â
