ASTRONAUT FRANK BORMAN’S APOLLO 8 SPACE SUIT - Chicago, Illinois. Astronaut Frank Borman’s Apollo 8 Space Suit on display in Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry. Apollo 8 launched December 21, 1968 and returned six days later. This historic NASA lunar mission took astronauts Frank Borman, James Lovell, and William Anders into deep space on an adventure that achieved many firsts: the first manned-mission to leave Earth's orbit and gravity, the first to reach and orbit the Moon (10 times), and the first to carry men to view the Moon's Dark Side and witness an "Earthrise."
