When reading this article, chunk 1 stood out to me the most. This chunk is not the most “corrupt” part of this article, but it stood out the most. There is a lot of text in this one chunk that seems very ‘unfinished’ one might say. This evidence all has confusing bits, but the way the author sort of lays it out makes Mr. Ramos look bad. There isn’t necessarily a way to make Mr. Ramos look good, after his murders. But, the way the author lays out the next, makes this all seem so ‘unfinished’ and leaves me questioning.

As you can see from the three passages I pulled out Lindbergh uses really basic excuses such as saying one of the best batting pitchers is nothing but a “miracle”. He also includes how two of the other better batting pitchers in the MLB went 0-2 over the weekend using such a small sample size as reasoning is foolish. Finally, he includes how most pitchers swings are not good looking and talks about one of the MLB’s most fun players to watch. This player, Bartolo Colon, isn’t very athletic looking. however he does have one homerun in his career and is one of the most viewed videos in baseball history. This is Lindbergh’s way of avoiding fan opinion on allowing pitchers to continue to hit in the national league.

The primary document that I found had corrupt language was a piece titled “Screens In Schools Are a $60 Billion Hoax” and is written by Dr. Nicholas Kardaras. My chunk is the second and third paragraphs of the piece and contains Kardaras‘s claim. The first example of corrupt language that I noticed is use of extreme diction. Kardaras does this twice, and I think he does for the same reason both times. He wants to intimidate or create fear in his audience. This is a corrupt way of arguing because the audience is influenced by vocabulary as opposed to the real issue. An example of this is near the end of the second paragraph of the chunk when he says, “... seem to suffer from adolescent malaise that appears to be a direct byproduct of their digital immersion.” Somebody reading this may believe the malaise is a serious disease however malaise is merely general discomfort. Also, this discomfort could be from something else, not screens in schools. Kardaras also commits two logical fallacies. His first one is the straw man fallacy at the end of the first part of the chunk. He misrepresents an argument that supports screens in schools by saying that those people who argue that thing it’s “necessary and beneficial”. This makes it easier to attack for him but not every proponent of technology in schools believes it is “necessary”. The other fallacy he commits is false cause. He assumes that technology in schools is the sole cause of the health effects that he mentioned. Many other factors could be contributing to the health effects he mentions as the result of more screen time. Overall, this piece by Kardaras contains corrupt language and argues a stance dishonestly.

This was Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s speech regarding his plan towards his viewpoint on reforming and restructuring the UN. However, his introductory completely leads away from that topic. He uses many unnecessary statistics that has nothing to do with his idea of reforming the UN. This was obvious through his topic sentence talking about the many socioeconomic and political problems but only provides his evidence on poverty in the world. Then he goes off to compare the United States to its wealth status and population. President Mahmoud does not specify any political issues or any ideas towards reforming the UN but only about current poverty and income issues.

Donald Trump uses the words “we” and “us” very often. However, he does not mean America or humanity as a whole. He lays out clearly who “we” is. He says in the 3rd paragraph of the second page “we” is people who share religious customs, values, and political parties. He then claims that he wants the best for every American child. However, American only refers to his previous requirements. This statement also brings up the question of why not every child in general. Why don’t I Iraqi children deserve to reach their dreams? He uses his language to make people think he is saying what they want. Or, what he thinks will please the media. However his slight-of-hand wording really means something else.

Along with blaming black people, the author also uses corrupt terms like “complain” and “white girl”. When most people hear the word “complain” they think of nagging, typically over petty and irrelevant things. The author’s use of that word is meant to describe when people speak against racism, and “complain” seems like an inappropriate word for that. In addition, when most people hear the term “white girl” they get an image of an innocent woman who couldn’t possibly purposely do anything wrong. When the author uses the term, she (a “white girl”) is using it to imply that they’ve simply been duped into saying a racial slur, because it was in a song.

In addition, the author characterizes liberal politicians to be some kind of manipulative group that is only in it to for the money and to keep their job no matter what is happening to the true Canlifornia natives while immigrants are invading. This villianizes those lawmakers and tricks the reader into thinking that they are bad and then go to blame the illegal immigrants for the problems that the native Californians are having that the law makers “aren’t fixing”.
