The virtue had had enough of all this lazing around. He had done absolutely nothing to help anyone! What kind of virtue does that?
No one, that’s who. He shook his head and got to work, standing up to walk to his not-all-too tidy doorway, lifting his hands to lay his palms flat against the frame, a spiral of vines sprouting out of the wooden frame. Slowly, those vines worked their way around the entire door to create intricate designs.
Well…. That was at least something… But it wasn’t enough. He was just fooling around at this point. Here, his brothers and sisters were working their butts off and he was making pretty designs. No! This wasn’t enough.
With a heavy sigh, he turned to hurry into his office, taking a seat at the desk and pulling out a sheet of parchment. With a quill in his hand, he began.
“Dear brothers and sisters…” he paused his writing, thinking for a long moment. “I understand I have been rather unfit in performing my duties as of late. Many things have happened that I have gone by ignorant of. For this, I am truly sorry. If there is anything I can possibly do to help, I’d be profusely great full to know what it is. That, and I would greatly appreciate it if any of you (who are available) would accept a petty invitation for a picnic this coming Sunday, the 21st.” And he went on to make six copies of this letter by hand and whistled softly, several hummingbirds zipping their way into his humble home, tilting their heads at the virtue. He, in turn, handed them each a letter and off they went….
