On Monday was Anzac Day, it is a national day in New Zealand, Australia and some of the pacific islands. Anzac Day was originally to commemorate Australian and New Zealand Army Corps who fought against Ottoman Empire at Gallipoli during World War 1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anzac_Day
Iām so confusedā¦
So I live in the U.S. and I am so confused as to why so many of my Australian friends & followers donāt support Anzac Day? Like I looked it up on wiki and it seems like itās pretty much our Veterans Day or Labor Day Memorial Day, which EVERYONE celebrates here. Whether thatās for actually celebrating the lives and service of our armed forces or just bc we have school and work off for it⦠Idk. I mean most of my family and all of the families I know have had someone in the armed forces so why are a lot of Australians like mad? I would think that yeah, maybe they donāt agree with the politics of it all, and I donāt either (in regards to the U.S. in WW1 and after) but wouldnāt they want to celebrate the lives of their people? Idk!!! Inform me pls
