Part 1 ~ Part 2 ~ Part 3 ~ Part 4
A couple of hours later, Jacob came by the packhouse, fully intending on getting to know (y/n), only to find her room empty and none of the pack knowing where she had gone. Of course, that scared Jake, so he decided to shift and go looking for her.
Halfway across the reservation, (y/n) stood at the edge of the cliff, staring down into the relatively calm, not quite grey waves. Making up her mind, she took a few steps back, stripping out of her t-shirt and shorts, leaving her underwear. She was grateful it was summer, so it wasn't freezing, and the sea was a lot calmer than it would have been in the winter. She took another step back, taking a deep breath and running towards the cliff edge. As she plummeted towards the water, she thought she heard a wolf's howl.
Jake ran along the road where he first told Bella about Sam. In his wolf form, he picked up his imprint's scent. It led him to the cliff tops where the pack often goes cliff diving. He broke out of the tree line just in time to watch his imprint run off the edge. Assuming the worst, he let out a melancholy howl before shifting back and diving after her.
(y/n) hit the water gracefully, Jake following not long after. He grabbed her arms, hauling her to the surface. She struggled in the unfamiliar grip.
"Hey! Hey, it's just me!" She recognised his voice and calmed down.
"What the fuck Jacob?!" She swam out of his grip and out onto the shore as he followed her. "What the hell do you think you're doing grabbing me like that?!" He looked down sheepishly.
"Sorry..." he mumbled. "I just... I saw you jump and I didn't think you could be cliff-diving," he tried to explain. She rolled her eyes and started the hike back up to the top of the cliff to get her clothes.. jake only just noticed that she was only wearing underwear. He blushed and averted his gaze, following her like a lost puppy.
"Why are you following me?" She sighed in annoyance.
"I-I wanted to talk to you," he stuttered.
"Why?" She was certain what she had witnessed in the garage happened only between people who liked each other but didn't know it, or between best friends. And because she'd heard the pack making fun of him for having a crush on Bella, she assumed the first one.
"Just to get to know you..." She rolled her eyes.
"Do me a favour then. Shift, bring me my clothes from the clifftop and meet me back at Emily's. Then we can talk," she offered. He nodded eagerly and ran into the trees to shift, then ran back out onto the road to the cliffs. (y/n) couldn't help but admire the russet wolf as it ran off. She didn't know why exactly, but something had happened when she first met Jacob. she barely knew him before, and now she was admiring everything about him. She shook her head to remove those thoughts and jogged back to Emily's house, slipping in the back door so Sam didn't see her half-naked and wet and start worrying again.
