Mrs Holst...... wow. (naked Willemijn under here)
NOT to be PRETENTIOUS on main but the REASON anyone who thinks Constantine is neat and cool should read just a little bit of Hellblazer for exposure is because his DCU counterpart fundamentally strips him of what made him so groundbreaking in the first place. Hellblazer is about a guy who dabbles in magic, John used power but it is always established now stunningly human he is. Whereas the mainstream DC version- I’m talking JLD vol 1, Constantine (2013), Doyle’s run…they characterize John as Silly Drunk Man with a witty line or two. Ever notice how John has like, flame powers or is present at big superhero battles? They want him to be a superhero that aligns with their long running superhero formula, cool guy with cool powers, but this specifically goes against what he stood for and cheapens the message of Hellblazer.

thinking about Aaron pairing peace and hoax together, how if hoax hadn’t been written would peace have been the final track on folklore?
how peace is asking if you can do enough to keep the person you love in your life and hoax is asking how the person you love could hurt you the way they did
in peace the danger is near because it lives in her, in hoax the danger was in the person who knew the password, who you let in the door because she trusted them not to hurt her, they knew she hurt beneath those scars, that she could’ve followed her fears all the way down, now she’s on the cliff side screaming
what she says: I’m fine
what she means: Every iteration of Jyn Erso’s characterization was better than the one shown in the movie. Literally from the first announcement people began making connections with Jyn Erso as 'Skymom' due to the Kathleen's obsessed need to have white brunette females play leading roles. However, at the time, fans believed this casting decision was a logical choice to show the similar characteristics between Rey and Jyn, furthering the 'Skymom' Theory. This theory led people to believe that she would have a large part in the sequel trilogy and began to make emotional connections to her, and how she would play into other movies. However, Lucasfilms shit on that very believable theory and proved that there is a fucking casting disaster here. (The problems with Jyn's final cut characterization could have also easily been fixed by casting an actress of color instead, as well.) However, casting choice notwithstanding, every cut prior to the final Rogue One movie shows a more interesting iteration of Jyn Erso. From the original cut of Jyn being a cocky, Han Solo type who is more interested in surviving than helping the galaxy but is eventually coerced by what's morally right, to the personality that was shown in the trailers: a daughter struggling between right and wrong, stuck between doing the right thing with the rebellion and stealing the plans to the Death Star as seen in 'this is a rebellion isn't it? I rebel' and saving her father by betraying the rebels and joining the Empire as seen in the culmination of 'what will you become?' and Jyn wearing the Deathtrooper outfit. Even though Felicity Jones portrayal was tepid, at b e s t, some people are still connected to Jyn and her storyline even though it's convoluted in the final cut of Rogue One. However, because of script rewrites, and reshoots, that character never even breathed. It's astounding to think that that if literally any other iteration of Jyn Erso had made it onto the big screen, she would probably have had a large fan following because of the one that was already there, waiting.
