Says a lot when someone is handed $$$$ to reboot a valuable IP that is technically for a youth audience and they “want to tell a hard story” where everyone was supposed to die in the end, and they laugh about abuse and death and clever they are.

The only thing that “smells like death” is them.

Ha, just kidding. Hey there! This is Nip coming at you from Altea University, a Discord-based, Voltron College AU RP looking for a new Shiro! We have been running and incredibly active since February, and are not looking to go anywhere any time soon. Unfortunately, our previous Shiro recently stepped down, and we are looking to fill his shoes. 

Altea University is a texting-based college AU. Located in Burlington, VT, AU was recently listed by the Princeton Review as one of the top ten best schools in the nation. Lauded as one of the Public Ivies, Altea boasts a diverse selection of both majors and student body members. 

To the outsider looking in, AU makes for the perfect setting to meet other like-minded individuals and pursue knowledge.  

But let's be real. This is still college. Full of late nights, wild parties, evil professors, drunken memories, Taco Bell runs, the worst classes you'll ever take, and the best friends you'll ever find. Take a peek into Team Voltron’s group chat and jump on in to the fun.

We already have a full cast of characters, including Matt, Lotor, Rolo, Nyma, and Shay. All we need is you!

Here are some things we'd like you to keep in mind if you're interested in taking the role for Shiro: 

We'd highly prefer an experienced Shiro. We want someone who is comfortable with the character. If you have any samples of your written work with this character, by all means, please share them, but if not, then be prepared to give us a little insight in how you plan on playing Shiro (whether that's in canon or in the setting of a slice-of-life AU doesn't matter!) 

This is an 18+ group, everybody involved must be an adult, and preferably out of high school, just for the comfort of our older members. This is not negotiable.

The rp is primarily texting-based. That means that conversation usually happens in a group chat or private texting context; however, there is definitely no shortage of in character interactions in any type of style, including script, short paras, and long paras. I would say that it’s about 60/40 texting to in person interactions.

We need active members! Since this is a texting RP, the pace can get very fast and you must be able to be active daily, preferably more than that. Daily check-ins and interaction helps keep the group going, but if you need to take a hiatus for any reason, please let us know when we can expect you back. 

Related to activity, we'd prefer that you be located in the EST/CST/PST timezones so that everyone can be online at relatively the same time. While we know there are amazing rpers across the pond, we don’t want anyone feeling left out because they aren’t online when the rest of the squad is.

We take the RP seriously (most of the time, anyway...) but we obviously don't take ourselves seriously, so please be chill, kind, and understanding of other people! Our ooc chat is just as lively as our in character group chat, so come prepared to make a dozen new friends.

In the same vein, we ask that you please be comfortable with a wide variety of ships. Playing with universes means endless potential for relationships to develop, so even stranger dynamics (for example, we currently have Keith/Matt and Lance/Shay as ships) can happen. Nobody can or will force you into playing a ship with your character that you're uncomfortable with, but we would prefer you be open to most Shiro ships, including Shidge, Shatt, Sheith, Shallura, etc. Antis exit stage left, pursued by a bear.

Be ready to improvise! Creating connections with the other members is paramount to having a good experience, so if somebody offhandedly mentions, "Hey, remember that one time Shiro came out with toilet paper stuck to his shoe?" or something similar, do your best to roll with the punches as they come. If it contradicts something you plan for your character or you disagree, by all means, let us know! We aim to be as flexible as possible and ask that you do the same!
