Okay but yesterday
maybe lets not talk about the first half. The action on the pitch kinda represented the stands. Terrific 10 Minutes and the restâŚ.. anything happened?
But
the second half
couse srsly
After the red card and the 1:3 there was this moment⌠you could literally feel how the team and the stadium reared up, how they just refused to accept the loss. It was loud. It was banging. This wouldnât have happened last season. And it will never happen with⌠âclubsâ like RB Leipzg. Ten thousands of people screaming, whistling, hopping⌠(sometimes when everyoneâs hopping I stop for a few seconds, close my eyes and just focus on the shaking ground beneath me because there are few things more imposing than this giant and massive structure of steel and concrete moving up and down because of sheer manpower.) ⌠so intense, that you can physically feel the will to turn this thing around.
And after the match. After the final whistle. When the insults after the final whistle are like 10 times louder than everything the opponent â who just friggin won a thrilling match â can ever come up with⌠Dudes. I probably got goosebumps because of second hand embarrassment. How could they actually dare to use the iceland celebration? How could they have the audacity? Some (*cough* most *cough*) most of the stuff thatâs sang in the stadium is faaar from beingâŚ. socially acceptable. But it never felt more proper than in this situation. Â
On our way to the city we actually had to pass the procession of Leipzig custumors who were shielded by heavily armed police forces and⌠I was shocked. It was a funeral procession. Silence. No songs, no happiness, no euphoria. I wanted to shake them, wanted to scream at them⌠âWhy are you doing this to us? Why are you treating this beautiful sport like that? Why are you here, why are you forcing us to listen to your ignorant views and watching your stupid behaviors?â (Then I insulted them. And of course by shouting âAlle Bullen sind Schweine!â (âAll bulls are pigs!â, referring to Red Bull of course, but âBullâ is also a common insult for cops in germany that might actually get you in real trouble.) we only addressed the Leipzig-Fans :) )
And lets not even start with the media⌠I mean⌠thatâs not critical journalism anymore. Thats just propaganda by nowâŚ
Theyâll never dance and sing in a smoky snack bar till three in the morning after a loss. Theyâll never discuss heatedly with pigheaded people of their own club attempting to improve the situation for the fans. Theyâll never get goosebumps while telling or listening to the stories collected through the years and years of traveling, fighting, praying, screaming, celebrating, fearing, crying, laughing and cheering for their club.
Theyâll never do anything memorable besides their endless and ridiculous whining.Â
