My problem with Damon Salvatore's character is that the moment they began writing him as the comic relief I didnāt believe he was compelling anymore, partly because of how he was written and the overall performance Ian gave. I admit that Iāve seen other characters in other shows who are mainly the āsarcastic sidekickā and can still portray that sense of dread, anxiety and fear, Stiles Stilinski is one of them and that was due to Dylanās performance and the continuity of his characterisation throughout the show. However, when I think of all the things Damon went through, as a child, from him being at war, being manipulated by Katherine and being a prisoner for years, I never feel that from his character, I believe the last chunk of complexity I felt from him was in season 2 where he had some level of intelligence but now I can barely get through his scenes without a large level of unfunny quips and plot armour.

Every time Bonnie thinks about what the Salvatores did to Abby, she gets really angry. Good thing she doesn't know about the coin toss and how Stefan was supposed to do it and turn or kill her.
On the originals thing, lol Josh is safe. Thought Iād might save you from that anxiety of waiting for him to die.
On MM, he has 2 bros and I think itās Kevin that looks so much like MM that its really scary.
And on TVD, you know no ones really talked about this but to me, at some point during the 3 years, Enzo and Ric must have become friends. We saw them working together to stop humanity-less Caroline back in the day and tbh if Enzo was his normal self back then (and not written as some weird revenge ooc thing because the writers donāt know how to write characters outside their big 3), they wouldāve made a great broship. Also they would have a better friendship than Damon and Ric cuz Damon just takes his friends for granted. He uses them when it suits his needs and he has absolutely no respect.
On the other side of the spectrum, Enzo would treasure his friends. In the beginning of s7 he didnāt really know who his friends were because they werenāt treating him with the same respect and love that he would give them. (And we know how much love is in that sweet puppy)

Side note: I think Enzo is done with Damon. Like he knows how much Bonnie cares for him but thatās as far as he goes because heās grown and he understands that Damon was the problem in their āfriendshipā and not him.
Anyways, we know and Enzo knows where his loyalties lie now. He knows that he loves Bonnie and he knows that he can trust Caroline and Ric. Theyāve accepted him into their MF gang and for once he has people backing him not just because they want to use him but because their friends. Like wow weāve all been focusing on BE and how this is the first time Enzo has found real love thatās worth everything but also this is the first time Enzo has ever had friends. Real friends.Ā
Like can you imagine Enzo dropping Bonnie off at Carolineās (when AC+twins come and visit MF) and Enzo and Ric going out to have a bros drink at the Mystic Grill and theyāll just be like,
āYo remember that guy Damon? Yea lol what a bag of dicks that one.ā
āHA! Remember that time he betrayed me?ā
āWhich time are you talking about?"Ā
"ALL THE TIMES"Ā
You guys wonāt even know whoās who in that dialogue. (I donāt even know)Ā
Basically what Iām saying is FRIENDSHIP. If they donāt wanna film a ton of BE flashbacks then give me Carenzo BroTP* and EnzoRic BroTP flashbacks because we need to flesh Enzo out and give him friends.
*Carenzo BroTP is my ultimate broship like the writers thought that having a F/M friendship means theyād HAVE to become a couple (Writers no. People can be of different genders and still be friends) but nope! The Carenzo friendship lasted a good few eps and we need more. #LongPostButINeededToTalkAboutFriendship

Secondly - so true. I mean, part of what makes BE so magical is that Enzo has finally found the kind of connection heās wanted his entire life. While thatās amazing and weāre all thrilled, he also deserves to have a real group of friends by his side. Iām assuming thatās part of why he went to war - to belong to something bigger than himself.Ā
I love Carenzo friendship too, and esp love the idea of some potential Conenzo scenes in S8. I can see him being friends with Ric, too. Bonding over their failed friendship with Damon, and the fact the two of them never quite managed to quit him. You know if this was rl they wouldāve just cut him out and moved on ages ago. Thatās probably exactly what they did in that 3 years. Maybe thatās part of the reason why it was so easy for Ric to be done with Damon after the timejump? He finally got his opportunity to be done with a toxic relationship. They both did.
I hope we see the CA fighting for their friend and not justĀ āBonnieās boyfriendā, like I hope S8 is where we see Enzo become an official part of the MFG. That would be a really fitting way to end his story on the show :D
I rewatched epis 18, when Alaric told D that BE are together,D's line was" together as in someone kidnapped Bonnie Bennett and brainwashed her into a relationship with Enzo". After a 3 years nap next to his E, he came back being sarcastic, judging B and E relationship and even threatening E,his behaviour was just inappropriate. Yes it's D so some people will always find an excuse to justify his attitude.
Time to put my anti damon tagging into play.
He did come back a dick, yes, and there was a time I couldnāt stand him so Iād call him Raymond. If Iām honest, his salty return was a little hard to understand at first, but in hindsight after seeing the season play out, itās evident that he was trying to find someone else to shift the blame on other than himself. Ric basically told him we was better off without him in his life, Stefan was hurt and Bonnie, she was still beyond furious.Ā
However, when he started to accept that he was to blame for the situation he was in, he got a little more bearable. Then, just as the writers got us to a good place with him and I stopped calling him Raymond, BAM, Dark!Denzo arrived. Tbqh I think Iām going to like dark!Damon a hell of a lot more than I liked normal Damon through most of S7.Ā
