Single Effect: Anti-Bind [70%] & Attack Up [20%]
MLB Effect: Anti-Bind [100%] & Attack Up [25%]
Anti-Bind prevents the equipped unit from being afflicted with Bind. Bind is a Status Ailment that will cause the afflicted target to be unable to take any actions (attacks or skills) for the number of turns shown, make the target take 80% more damage from its weak element, and prevent the target from recovering HP.
Attack Up increases the equipped characterâs base stats, meaning that its effected is calculated before buffs/debuffs are considered. The effect caps at 100%.
TLDR: âFlickering Aspirationâ is a good offensive memoria with nice stats and the new standard of 25% Attack Up. Its Anti-Bind is mostly a bonus, and isnât reliable unless you can Max Awaken the memoria. If youâre looking for Anti-Bind, youâre better off using âEverlasting Lightâ or âThis Is the Fragrance of Loveâ because they give 100% regardless of how Awakened they are.
Review:Â These days, 25% Attack Up is becoming the new normal. It used to be that 20% was the standard, found on memoria such as âI Made Friends!â and âIroha of the Midsummer Beach,â with memoria like âDive into Summer (Tsukuyo/Tsukasa)â being the rare exception-- so notable in fact, that it didnât have a secondary effect because the 25% Attack Up was just that good. But those days have past.
âFlickering Aspirationâ continues the new trend of having 25% Attack Up alongside some good ATK stats (this is only notable if you manage to Max Awaken the memoria of course). Its secondary effect doesnât impact a characterâs offensive potential in any way, and honestly feels more like a bonus than a must-have.
Anti-Bind can be found on several different memoria in the game, including Limiteds and Unlimiteds:
(Limited 4*) âFood Stall Paradiseâ Anti-Bind [100%] & Accele MP Gain Up [15%] & Blast Damage Up [30%]
(Limited 4*) âThe Hand Arisa Heldâ Anti-Bind [100%] & Anti-Stun [100%]
(4*) âFlickering Aspirationâ Anti-Bind [100%] & Attack Up [25%]
(4*) âEverlasting Lightâ Anti-Bind [100%] & Regenerate HP [4%]
(Limited 3*) âThe End Roll Is Full of Difficultiesâ Anti-Bind [100%] & Attack Up [15%]
(2*) âThis Is the Fragrance of Loveâ Anti-Bind [100%] & Defense Up [15%]
What is most notable about âFlickering Aspirationâ is that this is the first really offensive memoria to offer Anti-Bind. Previously, the event shop memoria âThe End Roll Is Full of Difficultiesâ was your best offensive bet, but âFlickering Aspirationâ blows it out of the water with its four-star ATK stat status and superior effect percentages-- not to mention, NA Refugees wouldnât have had access to it.
The tradeoff for âFlickering Aspiration,â however, is that it needs to be Max Awakened in order for that Anti-Bind percentage to be a safe 100%. A 70% isnât the worst thing you could equip when itâs a single copy, but Bind is an annoying Status Ailment you wonât want to be bothered by. Not only can it increase the amount of damage you take and interrupt your healing, but it can cause you to lose entire turns depending on how many characters get bound, and this can lead to cascading losses. Itâs good to nip it in the bud with a 100% Anti-Bind certainty.Â
For Free-to-Play players (and honestly, anyone who isnât the kind of Whale who spends hundreds and hundreds of dollars to Max Awaken a memoria ASAP), there are luckily better options to use. âEverlasting Lightâ might be a garbage memoria most of the time, but itâs nice to have when Bind is a problem. Even more importantly, that Bind is a 100% regardless of if itâs Max Awakened or not, so you can hold onto multiples of these just in case. If youâre unlucky enough to not have gotten it yet, âThis Is the Fragrance of Loveâ is a two-star unlimited memoria that also offers 100% Anti-Bind regardless of how Awakened it is.
So unless youâre very lucky, most players will still use other memoria instead of the expensive-to-Max-Awaken âFlickering Aspiration.â But truthfully, this doesnât hurt the usefulness of âFlickering Aspirationâ all that much. Sure there are better offensive memoria to be found in the game, but 25% Attack Up is 25% Attack Up. Even if you only have a single copy, it still gives 20% Attack Up which is the same as a Max Awakened âI Made Friends!â or a Max Awakened âA Longing for the Beyond.â
You can compare âFlickering Aspirationâ to similar 25% Attack Up memoria such as:
(Limited 4*) âGreat Success in the Longed for Landâ Attack Up [25%] & Bind on Attack [20%] (1 Turn)
(Limited 4*) âThe Young and Pretty Queenâ Attack Up [25%] & Poison on Attack [25%] (3 Turns)
(Limited 4*) âStill Far From a Starry Night...â Attack Up [25%] & Accele MP Gain Up [15%]
(Limited 4*) âMiracle Heroinesâ Attack Up [25%] & Magia Damage Up [12.5%]
(Limited 4*) âA Fake Smile Reflected in the Mirrorâ Attack Up [25%] & Evade [25%]
(Limited 4*) âDive into Summer (Tsukuyo/Tsukasa)â Attack Up [25%]
(Limited 4*) âKyubey Knight Breaking Throughâ Attack Up [25%] & Charged Attack Damage Up [15%]
(4*) âTo Grace with Asterâ Attack Up [25%] & Charged Attack Damage Up [15%]
(4*) âEveryday Overflowing with Prideâ Attack Up [25%] & Defense Up [37.5%]
(4*) âKind-Hearted Revolutionaryâ Attack Up [25%] & Anti-Provoke [65%]
(4*) âFeigning Innocence School Timeâ Attack Up [25%] & Anti-Stun [100%]
Having high Attack Up is good, but keep in mind that it has a hard 100% cap. Be careful you donât go over it when considering the other memoria you use alongside possible Connects, Magia, Doppels, Spirit Enhancement, and even Formation bonuses. If youâre unsure, a good general rule of thumb is combining a passive Attack Up memoria alongside a passive Damage Increase/Damage Up one (that is if you want your unit to be extremely offensive-- you may want to use a second passive slot for something else however).
Overall? A very good offensive memoria that isnât as good as a two-star memoria for protecting a unit from Bind. You should be pretty pleased if you get it in a role, and this memoria is fine to use on Support.
