I have to admit to some personal bias towards Blink 182's fourth album, Take Off Your Pants And Jacket; it was the first full album I remember owning that wasn't a soundtrack, and I went out of my way a couple of years ago to get the limited edition vinyl. That said, what a brilliant album. Opening with Anthem Part Two, it carries on with precision from the pop punk trio's previous endeavour, not letting up for a moment. This was the band still riding the peak they hit with Enema Of The State, and I'd argue it feels like a slightly more refined companion to the seminal album, mixing their high energy tunes with a blend of deeply emotional and token immature lyrical content, showing that it wasn't a flash in the pan with this incredible follow up. Blink owned 2001 for me, and this album is why. Mark, Tom, and Travis earned their crowns as kings of the pop punk scene here. Again, it's not a lengthy release, even with the addition of hidden/bonus tracks, but so much is packed into it you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not listening two it twice in one sitting to really take it all in. Highlight tracks include Anthem Part Two, First Date, The Rock Show, Stay Together For The Kids, and Shut Up. Available on iTunes and Spotify. Definitely did not get enough sleep last night for a cardio session, but here I am.
