"The past 3 days have seen organic and spontaneous rallies and marches around Leimert Park in Los Angeles. They've seen police open fire on peaceful and righteously outraged demonstrators. They've seen highway shutdowns and dance parties for justice at Hollywood & Highland.
Tonight, the struggle continues. Folks will surely gather and keep talking about what justice looks like tonight at Leimert Park and elsewhere. ANSWER is calling a second rally point at a new location downtown at Occupy Los Angeles' old stomping grounds, the West Steps of Solidarity Park (City Hall) today at 5pm. --- should we insert event page?---
As a participant in OccupyLA, I can autonomously and loudly declare that I stand in solidarity with converging on all public space. Everywhere.
I also support the organic beauty and logic to horizontal resistance, which has been on the ground in south los angeles the last several days. The scrawled cardboard homemade signs have replaced the mass-produced organizational cut-outs. Liberation is in the streets and the people know it.
Bottom line: Bring your indignation and resolve outside. Don't keep it bottled up. Whether that is downtown or south LA, your own street corner or neighborhood park: Out of your apartments, buses, tents, houses, and cars! Into the streets!
No justice, no peace. From Emmett Till to Oscar Grant, Kimani Gray to Trayvon Martin, the system has got to die. Hella, hella, Occupy." - Anonymous OLA'r

From another LA comrade:
Question: Are you really in this for the long haul?
Trayvon Martins death is not an isolated tragedy.
Youth of color are being murdered all the time by Police in OUR CITY L.A. and all across the Country.
Rest In Power...De'Angelo Lopez. Kendrec McDade. Jose De La Trinidad. Michael Nida. Susy Peña. Jonathan Cuevas. Detrik Ford. Oscar Grant. Jamar Witherspoon. Charlie Wilson. Elaine Coleman...and on and on...
There are A LOT of people in the streets this weekend. I hear a lot of folks feeling inspired, empowered, sad, frustrated, and strong at the same time. Organizing around this mess every day is SO HARD but SO WORTH IT.
Short bursts of REACTIVE organizing never gives us LASTING justice. I want to work with ALL of you over the next days, weeks, months, years.
We NEED you active consistently. Your community needs you.
Some of us are privileged enough to feel empowered to organize around these issues daily, and all people of color are affected by this racist injustice and police system.
They are BETTING millions of dollars on us not showing up or doing shit after maybe this weekend or next.
Will you prove them right, or will you STAY ACTIVE in this fight with the same passion all year as you did this weekend?
Myself and others are working with the Youth Justice Coalition and other great spaces to help support organizing families who have lost loved ones to police and vigilante violence.
Who else is down to help us??" - E L-Z
