"Ansiktet(The Face)" known in the English-speaking world as "The Magician" from 1958 was written and directed by Ingmar Bergman. It stars Max Van Sydow as a magician who has lost his powers and is resorting to tricks to put on a show for a wealthy couple and the nay sayers in their set. Ingrid Thulin plays his wife/protege and was the real-life wife of his biggest critic. Bibi Andersson, Bergman's girlfriend at the time also has a small role. Overall, this is about any creative person who is made to feel the sting of having to perform for an audience. It is a must see...

IDK why, but his movies are nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find!! At least for me they have been, I'm not sure if I'm just not looking in the right places or if they're so hard to find because they're really old foreign films. I have no idea, but I'm excited to watch 'Ansiktet' (or 'The Face' in English) tonight!! The movie is also called 'The Magician' in English, so I'm not sure why it seems to have two titles in English?? Unless I was just missing something while I was doing research 😅
Max von Sydow is also in the film and it's directed by Ingmar Bergman, so it'll be great to see another movie that these three were all a part of.
