Anong was shy, she was timid, quiet even. She was everything he disliked in people, but here he was, lips pressed on her cheek. He pulled back and blinked a couple times, waiting on a response. His heart was beating fast, and his stomach felt like it was flipping, even as she was still under his fingertips, unmoving, accepting. For a split second, he wondered if he had overstepped boundaries, pushed too far for her comfort, but her eyes weren’t angry and scared. She had a slight pink tinge showing up on her cheeks, and her eyes held some sort of eager suspense as opposed to anything that would lead him to believe that he made the mistake.

It dawned on him that perhaps she was waiting for an explanation. And he did owe her one. “Um… I like you,” he said, semi-sheepishly, but nervous and trying to hide it all the same.

“You… what?”

See? Now this was one of her traits that he found annoying at the start. This false shock, fake modesty, and… the more he looked down at her, the more that faded into that same anxiety he was feeling just now. No, there was no fakeness there.

“I said I like you.”

She blinked once, twice. He watched as her lashes fluttered together each time. There was no answer, and no move to respond from Anong, though there was a chance that she did say something, and he just missed it. The blood roaring in his ears was making it hard to focus on anything other than her eyes.

Then he looked at the slight blush in her cheeks and felt his hope rising again. “That… I like you too.”

It was his turn now to feel his cheeks heat up. “Oh-ok. So, say, Friday? Dinner?”

She looked up at him with eyes wide and still blinking in flutters. “You’re really surprising, Yoru.” It was said so quietly that he almost didn’t catch it. He definitely wouldn’t have if he wasn’t as entranced by her every feature as he was in this moment.

“How so?”

“N... nothing… It’s nothing,” she smiled up at him. “Friday works.”

She stammered her way through the response and then a farewell before just nodding and walking away.
