When I was like, 15, I became absolutely OBSESSED with Flushed away. I don't know of I saw clips of it or what, but I was addicted. But at the time, it wasn't on Netflix (if I'm being honest, I domt think we even HAD a Netflix account at the time), and I didn't have a PayPal or anything to order a DVD copy online, so I did the only logical thing... every time we went to town (aka, the town that was half an hour away that had actual malls and stores unlike the small hick town I lived in), I would look in EVERY STORE with a DVD section, searching for Flushed Away on DVD. Mind you, this was like, 2015/2016. A whole decade after Flushed Away first came out, so the movie wasn't exactly in high demand. I think I spent a month looking with no luck anywhere, not even thrift stores. Until one night. We spent the day shopping and stopped by this new grocery store in town. I found out they had a movie section and decided to go look. And there. On the shelf. A single copy of Flushed Away on DVD. I was fuckin HYPED! Thankfully, my Mom knew I had been looking for this movie for a CONCERNING amount of time (which probably made her question my sanity) so she bought it for me without question. I then proceeded to binge watch the movie everyday for a week..... and in the end, I think the main cause of me doing this wasn't because I saw Flushed Away for the masterpiece it is (though that was definetly was part of it). It was because.... 15 year old me had a crush on Spike. I'm fuckin serious, I looked at this short, dimwitted, hitman rat who was probably very insecure, and my brain went "....Yeah, I'd date him."
