You never know how much influence a blog could really have on real people’s lives, but if I could directly or indirectly affect anyone’s life for the better, it was worth doing it.
It really confuses me when people think Gale was ever an endgame option. He’s almost never even around, simply because the story being told is of survival in the hunger games while she is growing with peeta. The main story being told was always with Peeta. I usually can at least understand where other fandom ideas come from but this time I completely don’t get where they got this idea from in the text, or even just the movies
I agree, thanks for speaking up too. I can understand people being confused and it taking a couple reads to see between the lines of Katniss's voice but to say that the books were written with a slant towards Gale is bizarre as it's completely inaccurate. There are so many meta posts I could reference on this but one that comes to mind is an old post by @peetamymuse (probably because I have it queued for this Sunday) about the number of times their names are used. Peeta's name is used more than 2.5 times than Gale's. Going by textual evidence, Gale interactions are frequently described with adjectives having to do with death and dying whereas Peeta interactions are described with adjectives about life and birth. I'm really curious what these people read that made them think SC intended for Katniss to be with Gale. I mean, even after Katniss claims to have chosen Gale over Peeta post whipping, Gale literally falls off the map. We don't see him in her life or even orbiting her. It's all about Peeta. She never wishes for Gale the way she does for Peeta. She even has to remind herself she isn't supposed to want Peeta. Just read some meta people! How hard is that to do? We should make a collective masterpost of meta that addresses this...
My THG headcanon is Peeta not being more experienced though he called Katniss 'pure'. May be he kissed a few, but nothing more. I want them on equal footing in their amorous activities. He fell for her at the age of five, how would it feel right with anybody else if he pined for Katniss for so long ?
💯💯💯 same! I actually mentioned that, I think last week when I got an ask about my most unusual headcanons. This seems to be a rare one, or at least appears that way. I feel like Peeta is mischaracterized so much just because he can be charming and is comfortable with his sexuality. I don't believe he kissed more than one or two other people and would believe that he had kissed no one, that Katniss was his first kiss. I mean, he definitely isn't innocent cause he's clearly in touch with his sexual side but I highly doubt he was doing more than hanging out with other girls. Not innocent or not pure doesn't equal actual sexual behavior or experience.
Different anon here, but not only did Katie’s feel relief that Gale wasn’t coming back but she always knew where he was but NEVER REACHED OUT TO HIM. Hell, she eventually reached out to her mother who had abandoned her but never Gale. Look, if people want to ship Galeniss, for whatever reason, fine but once they start in on them as the intended endgame, they lose any and all arguments. Collins spent three books alluding to Everlark as endgame. TOASTing ceremony for frick’s sake! Bread+Fire!
Exactly. I can understand people being confused on the first, second and even third reread. By a third or fourth reread you should be able to see past Katniss unreliable narration and have a decent enough grasp on her character to see the truth plus all the literary devices used to show that it was always going to be Peeta. Never mind the fact that we are a decade in to this and there are multiple interviews with SC where she explains what Gales character represents and why she had to include him.
People are entitled to their ship. They are not entitled to go around trying to force their incorrect non fact based opinions on people or try to harass them by abusing the Anon ask feature. So the more hate that Anon sends, the more Everlark bliss I will post and everyone will revel in it. They will get bored eventually when they realize they will never get a rise out of me and simply look foolish.

I just want to thank you for all post in which you mentioned the difference between being bisexual girl, and finding girls attractive and still being straight. Because at some point, tumblr made me question my sexuality, and now I see that in fact i am straight and i just mistaken my admiration towards girls into a romantic feelings. Maybe it is because in my interest circle there is a lot of bi/lesbian/pan identifying girls. So thank you for again for your rational approach because it helps.

Thank you for standing up for people who can't. Thank you for caring about dysphoric trans children who would be living day to day in utter agony if not for access to hormone blockers. I was forced to wait far too long for blockers to the point they wouldn't do anything and the time in my life I spent suicidal and depressed is time I can never get back. Thank you for caring even if sometimes other people give you flack for it.
I think that’s what’s most concerning about this issue to me. There’s a time limit on this thing, and it’s running out the closer those kids get to the onset of their natural puberty. And that is the beauty of hormone blockers – they stop the timer.
