Some illustrations I did for my Gender and Sex in Literature midterm assignment. The quotes are from the novella “Sphinx” by Anne GarrĂ©ta. I haven’t been drawing a lot lately, so having an excuse made me happy.Â

I’m reading Sphinx right now, and Tumblr needs to pay more attention to this book. I know it was originally written in the eighties, but y’all. There’s no gendered language used for either the narrator or the love interest. It’s glorious. Also it actually has a plot. Also the relationship is interracial and you can interpret everything so many ways.
