-I wasn’t afraid to stand up for people. -I knew the responsibility of my actions and how it could hurt people. -I acted like who I really was and didn’t hide from anyone. -I knew that love wasn’t something to take for granted. -I read books and immersed myself in unimaginable worlds. -I kept my family and friends close to my heart, wearing my memories of them like armor. -I made sure that I was kind to everyone. -I knew that holding grudges would only hurt me more. -I took care of myself, both physcially, emotionally and mentally. -I knew that I wouldn’t want to change who I had become.

You fantasize over the illusion of someone who has only existed inside you.

I used to be someone trustworthy and reliable. Everyone went to me if they wanted a secret kept or stored away. If they wanted a rumor to be quashed and destroyed. I was that person. Now I can barely think about myself this way—this person who has kept a secret so life threatening that it has completely and utterly shattered me.

“You confuse me. You’re sort of like a mystery, an enigma if you please. It’s just…I don’t know what to do with myself now, after you told me that you would do anything to keep me happy. I mean, how will I know if you’ll keep your word? Will you? Will you do anything to keep me happy? Or will you do anything to keep yourself satisfied?”

And I was Whole
I remember the last time he came for me. The man in the tattered black robes, with a long hood covering his face, his scythe in his right hand. He had so many titles. Plague, Reaper, Hades, Pluto, Death. I called him Friend. So I was in my room, fiddling with the rope like I always did whenever I felt depressed. That rope was one of the only options I had to escape the pain. It was cowardly, no doubt. But it helped narrow down the world to me and this rope, with its deadly power to take me away. So I was there. And he came for me. My friend. "How are you?" "I can't do it anymore." "Of course you can." I gripped the rope. "No. I want you to take me away." He shook his head. "It's not your time yet." I was so annoyed. "Then will my time come? I can't wait forever." I couldn't see his face, but I knew that he smiled. "You say that now, dear." "When will you show me who you are?" I demand. He leaned forward and I held my breath. But he only kissed my forehead. "Soon," he promised me. And now here I am, with my family around me in a hospital room, my final breaths leaving me. "I love you." Everyone said. I tried to speak, but I only inhaled one more time before I let go of my life. I kind of regretted doing it. I didn't want to die anymore. There was so much I wanted to do still. But then I saw him again. His hood was gone. And he was smiling. I hugged him tightly. "Oh my god," I sobbed. "I told you," he said. "I promised." And as he took me away, I became myself. I was whole. I was life. -dedicated to my writer's block, depression, fear and anxiety. Thank you for helping me realize there was more to life than just you guys- *more stories coming soon😊*
