It’s Cat Awareness Weekend!
Its time to be aware of threats that big cats and the feline species face.
Most of their major threats are due to habitat loss and poaching.
Palm Oil is a major threat to Clouded Leopards and their rainforrests
here is an article explaining the environmental impact of palm oil, and how it affects deforestation. Please check what you buy to see if it has palm oil in it, palm oil also goes by many names, and are in many products.
heres some to be aware of;
PKO fractionations: Palm Kernel Stearin (PKs); Palm Kernel Olein (PKOo)
PHPKO – Partially hydrogenated Palm Oil
FP(K)O – Fractionated Palm Oil
OPKO – Organic Palm Kernel Oil
Palmitate – Vitamin A or Asorbyl Palmitate (NOTE: Vitamin A Palmitate is a very common ingredient in breakfast cereals and we have confirmed 100% of the samples we’ve investigated to be derived from palm oil)
Sodium Laureth Sulphate (Can also be from coconut)
Sodium Lauryl Sulphates (can also be from ricinus oil)
Sodium dodecyl Sulphate (SDS or NaDS)
Chemicals which contain palm oil
Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate (coconut and/or palm)
Sodium isostearoyl lactylaye (derived from vegetable stearic acid)
Cetyl palmitate and octyl palmitate (names with palmitate at the end are usually derived from palm oil, but as in the case of Vitamin A Palmitate, very rarely a company will use a different vegetable oil
There are so many other things
Such as the main threats to the survival of the Amur tiger are poaching, habitat loss, and illegal hunting of ungulates, which are tigers' main prey. Because they increase access for poachers, roads are another important threat to the Siberian tiger.
Please, Be aware of these lovely creatures.
This Post is kind of a mess but still it raises some awareness
