Not sure when (if) I'll get back to this, but here's my first attempt at an animash for an au idea.
The au is basically: The Garcías end up finding the season 2 cabin on a drive. They spot it in the distance, thinking it might be a good spot for resources or to shelter in, but end up running into Pete and Luke on patrol. Seeing that Gabe and Mariana are with them (in this timeframe, Gabe and Mariana would be tween age 10-12), they take the family in to help. There's tension on whether or not they should stay (Rebecca's pregnant, Nick doesn't want another incident like with his mom, more mouths to feed, etc...). Luke seems to be the only guy certain of letting them stay regardless of the consequences that may follow. He can see that Javi, Kate, and the kids have good hearts and don't want them to stray into possible danger, especially since Carver's still out there somewhere...
