Part of me has been thinking a lot about the order of which all the current digital circus members actually entered the digital world. as well as what that implies based on their age in the present.
we know for a fact that Kinger has been there the longest, and Pomni's been there the shortest. however, the context from questions goosewrox answered, both on her tumblr and on GlitchX when they did the QnA, heavily implies that the list of seniority for the circus cast looks like this. (longest to shortest)
Kinger, Ragatha, Jax, Gangle, Zooble, Pomni.
the show also implies that there's a pretty big gap of time between the arrivals of new members, so chances are good, Kinger was in the circus for a few years when Ragatha showed up. Ragatha had been there a few years when Jax arrived, and so on. Part of me wonders how long Zooble had been in the circus when Pomni arrived, since they've been pushing Caines patience when they skip adventures. the fact Caine recognizes this as a pattern with them, and is thus, less lenient in comparison to the other members, makes me wonder how long Zooble has been skipping the adventures.
the part of this list that gives me emotional damage, is the age list of all the characters, and how it compares to the seniority list.
oldest to youngest, the age list is Kinger(48), Ragatha(30), Gangle(26), Pomni(25), Zooble(22), Jax(22).
Jax being younger than Zooble by around 6 months.
Kinger and Ragatha are the 2 oldest and have been there the longest. They are also the only members who's age doesn't start with a 2.
however, what kinda hurts, is that Jax, the youngest member, is next on the seniority list. which begs the question, how old was Jax when he first joined the digital circus? Cause if we're following the idea of new arrivals being years apart from one another, then chances are good that Jax was a child when he entered the digital world.
(this is kinda why I like the dad au by @cheatsykoopa98, because it showcases a bit of Jax being a child in the digital world, and how that affected him. I also like the TinyJax au by @smallpwbbles because it explores that aspect of Jax's character as well)
I remember seeing a gooseworx post, where someone asked how Jax reacted when he arrived to the digital world. Goose replied "not well". and if Jax is 22 now, and he's been in the circus long enough to witness half the casts arrival, then how old was he when he first arrived? he couldn't have been over 18 right?
I'm gonna run through some math here, and I'm gonna be very generous with it too. lets say that 1 member enters the digital world every 2-5 years. if there was 3 years between Jax and Gangle's arrival, then 4 years between Gangle, and Zooble's arrival, and then 2 years between Zooble and Pomni's arrival; that makes 9 years total to the present day. 22-9=13, so if we run with that, Jax was just barely a teenager when he arrived.
Can you imagine how being in the digital world would mess with a 13 year old? like, sure kids that age can usually handle themselves a bit, but that's usually in low stress environments. Like, leaving a 13 year old home alone while their parent goes shopping for a while isn't too bad. Ripping a 13 year old from their parents, their school, their friends, and everything they've ever known, and have them get shoved into a world that full adults struggle to survive in is straight up traumatizing. not to mention he probably felt abandoned by his family in some capacity because he doesn't have any access to them anymore.
spending that part of his development in the digital world has no doubt affected Jax, and there's a plethora of valid reasons that Jax could have to act the way he does.
everyone else at least had the mercy of being adults when they entered the digital world. if we're running with the same math from earlier, Gangle and Zooble were both 20 when they entered, Pomni has been in the digital world for a few days and she's 25. even Kinger and Ragatha were likely in their 20's when they arrived, so everyone but Jax was an adult when they entered the digital world.
I wonder if this theory even holds canon relevance, cause it makes sense, but the show hasn't really acknowledged it at all yet.
