SUMMARY: You and Clark have been friends since childhood. You'd be a complete liar if you said you didn't have feelings for him. However, after the big move to Metropolis, he met someone. Her name is Lois Lane.
Clark was always the simple, quiet boy. He was your best friend, and you were his. He was the person you'd go to for everything, hands intertwined as you ran through his parent's pasture, and forget about everything back at home. When it seemed like you had everything figured out just because he was by your side.
He was a good person, but he always seemed troubled after he got a bit older. Maybe it was middle school, or the beginning of high school? You could never quite remember when Clark became… Not-Clark. “I’m not…” He stutters, “I’m not like everyone else.” His lips finally confess. You were the first he told about his “development.” Sure, he was an open book to his parents, but Clark knew he wasn't human. His blood didn't run the same way yours did. If he had a bruise in the afternoon, it was gone by night. A simple cut never lasted long and it scared him more often than he was ready to admit. But you were the first he told, the first he trusted with his secret.
“You’re still you, Clark.” You said softly, placing your hand above his. No matter what he thought, your words overpowered his mentality. Maybe he wasn't a monster. He's a human. With…Assets. He had hope in himself because of you.
It felt as though you were the only girl in the world. Clark was special, he made you feel special. Every day you woke up, and the greatest thing was seeing Clark’s face light up as you walked to the bus stop. His curved smile, bright blue eyes and warm embrace as you hugged him. The way he’d carry your books down the hall so you had enough time to finish your last-minute-breakfast before class.
Everything was a fairytale.
It was perfect.
It was perfect…
You weren’t surprised that Clark wanted to live elsewhere. Somewhere where he could blend in, be normal, and exist without fear of destroying his hometown half the time. You weren't fully sure why he wanted to go out that far but you weren't going to step on his dreams. When Clark moved it was a deep, embarrassing struggle. Even though you were a counselor—sometimes you felt like you needed counseling. You hadn't budged from Smallville, Metropolis was intimidating.
Phone calls—they were nightly, then they were weekly. Now, you were lucky if you even got a lousy text. When you eventually did move to Metropolis, even then you never saw Clark much. Considering you now lived two different lives, it was understandable, but he never responded to texts. Then came Superman, and you knew it was him.
There was one singular night he came, perched on the balcony like a lone dove. He smiled when you opened the door and the hug didn't last long enough for your likings. "I'm sorry I haven't come around."
"It's okay, Clark." You return a smile.
He told you everything, although, it seemed like now you were the last to know about everything. The Daily Planet, how he finally scored his front-page article. He made a few good friends there and superhero ones—apparently. There was someone though. A woman who made him blush. Someone else who made him smile bigger than you ever could. She made him stumble over words without being present, fidget with his fingers—random things he never did before. "H=her name is Lois. Lois Lane." He grins at the floor, picking at his thumb. His eyes lit up at his own voice speaking that name like it was scripture.
It never lit up like that at the bus stop.
"Oh, Clark. You big baby." You laugh and tease him, causing him to gush more. The moment drug out for so long. He couldn't stop talking about Lois.
"I'm not sure how to explain it. She makes me feel…normal, almost."
Normal? She made him feel normal. As if you hadn't spent your entire childhood helping him to feel that way when he purely hated himself for not being like other kids. You swallow a glass of shards, that's what it felt like. You force yourself to nod, "That's good, Clark. It's what you deserve." A fake smile plasters over your lips despite the fact your world was falling apart.
When he finally left, he was too full of joy to notice your trembling hands, your shaky breaths or how you hugged him extra tight like it was the last time you'd see him. "I just want you to be happy. So, be happy, Clark." You said softly. He reflects a tender, friendly smile. He didn't have to respond.
He knew you meant it.
The entire time you sat in your room that night, you reflected on this woman. Lois Lane. Why was she so special? Why did Clark like her? Why not you? After all these years, you knew Clark better than anyone. You knew his heart, he knew your soul.
Oh, she was beautiful though. With perfectly fallen, black hair and a smile that entranced everyone. Confidence a girl would envy, and the journalism skills of a genius. She was incredible, you couldn’t muster up the courage to find hate for her. She was just that good. You saw how Clark spoke about her.
It wasn't long before Clark told you:
"I love her."
His words almost broke you, but you tilted your head. It wasn't a surprise, it was obvious. Heartbreakingly so. You knew before he did, you were sure. Maybe it was worse hearing it actually come from him. Despite the wrenching gut feeling, you placed a hand on his shoulder and teased him, "I know."
The days turned into weeks, it didn't sit right with you that after all you've done for, and been with Clark, he'd just found comfort in someone else. Lois knew his secrets now. Lois' arms were the ones he'd end up in when he was hurt or scared. All of his doubts and worries would be reassured by her voice. Maybe it was jealousy, but regardless, that was supposed to be you. Your entire life you spent waiting, for a hint he liked you back. When you were younger, it was easy to depict but now? No.
You stopped calling, stopped responding.
It probably was the wrong thing to do, but you couldn't think of anything better—because clearly, he didn't need you as much as he did.
But guilt twisted around Clark like a thorny vine, and he panicked after he realized he was losing you. That you were distancing. "I didn't mean to hurt you." He'd say, his face like an injured puppy's as he stood sheepishly outside your apartment door. You sighed, shaking your head with a somehow genuine smile. You couldn't let him think for a second he'd ever hurt you. Even though, in a way, he ultimately did. Not that he meant to. He didn't fall in love intentionally.
"It's okay Clark. You didn't. I just… I guess I need space."
He may have nodded that night, but something always chewed at his heart. He'd drop off notes, leave a goodie bag or two on your balcony under your table—your favorite flower on very rare occasions. He couldn't lose the one person who had brought him down to Earth so many times. That was losing himself.
One night, there was a gathering. You weren't even sure what it was for but you attended anyway. Huddled bodies, chatter that filtered through your ears, echoing behind the fancy music. You took a drink, then looked over. There he was. Clark's eyes met yours softly and as soon as your eyes met, they broke contact. There was a hint though; something that could've been. Something that should've been. For a second, your heart had that light feeling, because maybe, just maybe…
That hope was cut loose, as Lois called Clark's name. He walked away. Because he had already chosen. And it wasn't you.
All the time you spent together growing up in Kansas was nothing more than character development. You weren't always, but now you're just another person in his life.
You'll always love Clark.
The boy from Smallville, the nerdy guy who was always trying his best to help everyone else and be a good person. You wanted to be as good to him as he was to you.
"I'm happy for you, Clark."
Your words were spoken, as he sat across from you, explaining how he'd finally tie the knot with Lois. Soon.
"I'm happy for both of you." You say, forcing the crack out of your voice as you say the words to the man who was supposed to be your forever.
Now, forever fated to be the other woman.

The first time you laid eyes on Adrian from the other dimension it was such a strange feeling, like looking at twins, but when they spoke or interacted, it seemed like a glitch in reality. Although they were not exactly the same, it was subtle, but you could tell.
The Adrian from your dimension had been your best friends for years and you had been in love with him for just as long. But never had anything come of it, not for a lack of trying, but because Adrian just didn’t seem all that interested in that kind of relationship.
He meant too much to you, for you to just cut him off entirely and so you had resigned yourself to being close, but never quite there. It seemed selfish, but the thought, that at least no one else could have him either, gave you a bit of comfort.
Still, seeing him every day and talking to him and feeling like your chest might explode and not being able to do anything about it, broke your heart every night you went to sleep, wishing he’d be next to you.
A few years ago, you had confessed your feelings and Adrian didn’t really understand, not what you felt for him, neither what you wanted from him. To him you were his best friend and that was the greatest thing someone could be to him. And you knew he loved you, but that was when you also understood, that he would never love you the way you wanted him too.
It wasn’t his fault, you didn’t hate him for it, and you were thankful for every second you got to spend with him, every time he awkwardly patted your arm to comfort you and every time, he went out of his way to make you laugh or do something for you.
Adrian was the greatest best friend you could ask for, and still that tug in your chest never left you and you wondered if there would ever be anyone else who could fill that void in your heart, but at this point you had been in love with him for so long, you didn’t know if you ever could love anyone else, without comparing them to your Adrian.
Unfortunately, he was your blueprint, but life had denied you the building permit.
You had joined Adrian in looking for his other self, you were just as curious to meet him, as he was. When you stood in that room in the basement and you saw the other Adrian sit at his desk, back turned to you, it was like an electric shock went through you.
He turned around, pointing his gun at the two of you. He couldn’t decide if he wanted to keep his eyes on you, or Adrian. When his face broke into a huge grin after realizing who was standing in front of him, you could see your Adrian in him.
His eyes locked with yours and a strange feeling came over you, it was familiar, but there was something else in his eyes, you’d never seen in your Adrian, when he looked at you.
You sat on the couch watching them talk and you thought your brain might short circuit any moment when the other Adrian turned to you.
“You’re really pretty.” Then he turned to your Adrian. “Is she your girlfriend? Dude, you’re so lucky.”
“Girlfriend?” He let out a laugh and you could feel the old familiar sting in your chest.
“No, she’s my best friend, why would I want her to be my girlfriend?”
You didn’t say anything, and neither did the other Adrian, but you could feel his eyes on you. You could feel your cheeks heat up. You hadn’t felt embarrassment with Adrian in a long time, you had gotten used to not being seen the way you wanted to be seen, but this was new and although he wasn’t your Adrian, he was close enough it made your heart beat faster.
But then, again, your Adrian wasn’t really yours either.
The entire time, the other Adrian wouldn’t leave your side, he kept asking you questions, and you answered them, still not able to shake this confusing mix of feelings. You were so painfully aware, that this wasn’t Adrian, your brain knew it, but it seemed like your heart didn’t get the memo.
You hadn’t been this nervous in ages, and the big smile on his face, while watching you talk didn’t help. On one hand this was everything you had been dreaming about, on the other hand it was a painful reminder of all the things that weren’t real in your world.
This Adrian had only known you for a few hours, but you could tell, just like your Adrian, he was an impulsive type, and unlike your Adrian he had fallen fast and hard.
On your way to rescue Ads he kept telling you about the Sons of Liberty and the work he did with them and then came the question, deep down, you had known was coming and it was scaring you, because you didn’t know what to answer.
“Do you wanna stay here with me?” Due to his mask, you couldn’t see his face, but you knew exactly how he was looking at you. You took a second to answer.
“I…it’s complicated, I have a life, and friends and…no offense but your reality sucks a lot more than ours and I…”
He nodded. “I get it, but I had to ask.”
A sad smile made its face onto your face. “I know…”
Your Adrian had watched your interactions the entire time. He didn’t seem too bothered by it, not until that last question came up. He turned to you.
“You can’t leave me.”
You didn’t know what to say. Maybe this was your chance to finally get what you wanted all this time. Immediately your thoughts went to Chris, and how he was willing to stay in this dimension, only so he could have Emilia.
For the first time you thought you could understand where he was coming from. If you had the chance to be with Adrian, would you take it? Even if that meant living in this world, leaving everything behind, leaving your Adrian behind because he couldn’t be what you needed.
Didn’t you deserve to be happy? Would you be?
Having the other Adrian be so close to you and paying so much attention to you was intoxicating. You couldn’t fight it and just for a while you gave yourself over to the illusion of what could’ve been, what could be.
Of course, you could tell them apart, not only by the different glasses, but by how they acted and talked, you had known Adrian long enough, but from time to time, your mind slipped up and you could see him in his doppelganger. That was, when the thought of just staying would become stronger and stronger.
Just as you had met up with Ads and Judomaster and come up with a plan to get out of here, the other Adrian pulled you aside, far enough from the group, so they couldn’t hear you.
He pulled off his mask, and although it was dark outside, you could still see his face clear enough. You let your gaze wander over his eyes, green, wanting - not like what you were used to, his mouth, corners curled up in that smile that was exactly like what you were used to.
“I don’t know what will happen tonight, but there is one thing I need to do, because if I don’t, I will regret it forever.”
Before you could answer, he grabbed your face and pulled you into a kiss. Your eyes fluttered shut and you melted into his touch.
Adrian’s lips were soft, eager and desperate. Your hands gripped his wrists, holding them in place. Your pulse quickened and you could feel your breath hitch in your throat. The cold night air was a blessing to your burning cheeks.
You never wanted to let go of him and of this moment. It was everything you had dreamed about and then it happened. All you could feel was your Adrian, holding you, pressing his lips to yours, wanting you, needing you.
The feeling hit you like a fist in the stomach, and you pulled back. No matter what happened, you would always be so close you could almost touch it, but you knew you never would. Not even like this. And suddenly you knew, you could never be happy, even if you stayed here, with this Adrian, who adored and worshipped you.
For a few seconds all your wishes had come true, but the price you paid, was knowing for the rest of your life what that felt like.
You could never love this Adrian like you did yours. He was your blueprint.
The next hour felt like walking through fog. The moment you stood on the other side of that door, watching the other Adrian close it, your heart broke all over again. You didn’t even realize there were tears streaming down your face until you felt a hand take yours.
You turned around. It was Adrian. He watched you, worry in his eyes.
“I’m sorry.”
Hastily you wiped the tears away. “You have nothing to apologize for.”
He shifted his weight from one foot to the other.
“I don’t know, maybe I do. I didn’t know…how much you were hurting because of me, and I care about you, and I love you and I don’t want you to be in pain. And I’m sorry I can’t be what you want me to be.”
You gave him a sad smile. “This is not your fault; I don’t think it’s anyone’s fault. And at the end of the day, you’re the one and even if it’s not exactly what I wanted, you’re the only one I want. And I’m thankful for everything you give me because I don’t think I have a choice anymore; it’s you and it’ll always be you.”
He stared at the floor for a second, before looking up at you again. “I know it’s not like what you feel, but I do need you and I don’t know what I would have done if you’d stayed behind.”
“I could never leave you.”
“I wish I could be more like him, for you.”
“I bet he wishes the same.”

He finds solace in burying himself in someone new once things get too committed with his current fling.
You find solace in being used by the man you love the most.
"maybe im the best mistake you ever made. sounds so fuckin beautiful when you say my name."
Every friday night, he found himself clung to your side in your bed after he stumbled there from the club. You left the door unlocked for him, knowing what he would end up doing. Even if it killed you.
He smelled like a different girl whenever he laid with you. Some times it was cheap vanilla. Other times it was a more expensive floral. Either way, it was always subtly masked by the smell of his sweat.
You couldn't help but find yourself feeling at home due to the subtle scent of him. You allowed yourself to lay on his chest while he murmured that you were the best thing to ever happen to him.
During his sober hours, he was the sweetest. He never gave a second thought when it came to giving you the world. Coffee in the mornings, memes sent to your phone during work hours to cheer you up, and dinner at night. It was a dream. It was amazing bliss for both of you- until anyone brought it up.
"maybe im the worst, the worst you ever had. tell you youre beautiful then stab you in the back."
"Damn! Flowers, huh? You finally decide to lock her down or what, Iwa?" Oikawa asked, making the both of your heads whip around to him as everyone in the crew approached.
This sentence made both of you want to puke.
He wanted to puke because commitment scared him shitless. He didn't know how to be with just one person, even if you had his heart in full. He didn't want to disappoint you in the long run and hurt you more than everything hes done combined.
You wanted to puke because you knew what comes next. Every time someone brings it up to him- that you two should date and are basically a couple. He would distance himself more and more each time. 'here comes the hurt' you thought to yourself.
"No, what the fuck- why do you always ask that? What I cant be nice to my friend?" Iwaizumi asked, flustered and red.
"You never give me flowers!" Oikawa said, jokingly holding his heart in fake pain.
"Yeah because you fucking suck." He said, looking back to you and the flowers he bought from the lady on the street corner. "These- a lady was selling them and I felt bad, ok? Dont like- I'm not- It's not like that." He stuttered out, shattering your heart all over again.
"I know." You respond, defeated.
"Right. Well, I gotta go." He wiped his hands on his jeans, looking towards the exit.
"What? You just got here-" Oikawa began, getting interrupted.
"Yeah, forgot about a previous uh- responsibility. I'll see you all later." He brushed his friend off, walking out, not looking back at you.
You eyes would've filled with tears had this been one of the first times, but it wasnt. A sigh leaving your mouth, you sent a glare to Oikawa and shoved the flowers to his chest.
"Why do you always have to bring that shit up?" You ask harshly.
"You two obviously like each other- its so stupid."
"It's also none of your business." You sighed.
----
"dont try to call, do not disturb, i do not want to speak."
Walking back to his place, Iwaizumi knew his friends were right. Y/n was someone he should 'lock down'. Nobody has ever understood him the way she did. Nobody else takes time with him like her.
But that's the scariest part. If he was to commit to her, he multiplies the chance of her being crushed by him by 100. And he couldn't live with that.
So he decided to do what he did best. Push her away again.
----
"the more you try to fix me the more you make it worse."
Friday came along sooner than she thought it would. The days of the week passed by with no contact from Iwa. Y/n shouldn't be surprised. The longest he went was 2 and a half weeks and its only been 4 days. Sure he would hold out even longer this time, she began to think about how easy her life would be without him. Without loving him.
But it was too easy to love him when things were good. He was perfect for her- he just can't see it.
This pattern has made her numb. It hurts every single time she gets close to him again. She finds herself missing his scent on her sheets and realizes how awful the situation is- and will continue being- if she doesnt change something herself. She couldnt keep depending on him to crawl back to her apologizing- because what if he doesnt this time?
Getting up from the couch and brushing her stray tears away, Y/n decided to have a trial run of sorts. 'Lets see what life would be like without him for real' she thought to herself.
Sitting in front of her vanity, Y/n took in her disheveled appearance. This is what he reduced her to, and he didn't show any signs of caring or stopping the pattern.
Standing up and letting go of a deep breath she didn't know she was holding, Y/n walked to the bathroom to shower. Tonight would be the night things changed.
Right?
----
Walking into the club with her wallet and phone in hand, Y/n looked around, taking in her unfamiliar surroundings- fighting the urge to turn and run out.
Once she sat at the bar, Y/n felt a little more comfortable, letting her shoulders relax as she ordered a drink.
"I fucking love that dress!" A shrill voice sounded next to her as a pretty blonde turned in her seat to face Y/n.
"Oh- thank you! Your makeup is amazing!" Y/n returned the compliment, appreciating the shadow the stranger put on her eyelids.
"Thank you! I'm Lily!" The stranger said, instantly warming up to the nervous girl.
"Y/n, nice to meet you." Y/n introduced herself, taking a sip of her drink.
"What brings you here all alone?" Lily inquired, forgetting about the friends she came with and focusing on Y/n.
"Ah, heartbreak. Ya know." Y/n didn't want to dive into any details, giving the girl a short explanation.
"Oh god, I know that too well. Was it some guy?"
"Yeah- just some guy." Y/n sighed.
"Fuck men! Thats it- we aren't gonna sit here and be sad! Not on my watch! C'mon!" Lily stood up, grabbing Y/n's hand and strutting off to the dancefloor.
Taken back by the sudden warmth of the stranger in the best way, Y/n smiled. Tonight would be different.
"OH MY GOD THE PERFECT SONG!" Lily shouted over the music as none other than doja cat started playing over the speakers of the club. "DOIN TOO MUCH RELAX A BIT!" She began singing, taking Y/n's hands and putting them in the air, fingers interlocked.
"ACTIN LIKE THAT CUZ YOUR DADS A BITCH!" Y/n joined in, letting herself simply enjoy the night.
"MUST BE THE WAY THAT THE PLANETS IS!" Lily shouted, smiling.
"MUST BE YA FACE CUZ ITS NOT YA DICK!" The two girls sang in unison, laughing.
Across the club, Iwaizumi stood with a random tall red head, mind absolutely blank as he caught sight of his best friend dancing with a cute blonde.
Taken back, he felt all of the blood in his body rush to his head. Why the fuck was she here- in a club? With some random girl? In that dress? What is happening- what alternate universe is he in?
The way you danced around to this song made his heart ache. He hurt you again.
He stood and watched helplessly as you and your new friend were approached by 2 men. They seemed to introduce themselves to you, asking to dance. And you accepted.
Iwaizumi watched you dance with a glow around you, thinking about how happy you seemed without him. But it wasn't fair. What about him, right? I mean, he's not even having fun! This redhead is so-
"Boring." He finished his thought out loud to himself.
"Whats that?" The red head asked.
"I need another drink." He walked away, eyes held on your figure in that stupid dress.
Running directly into you, nudging you away from the tall man in front of you with his shoulder, Iwaizumi faked innocence.
"Oh shit- I'm so sorry- Y/n?" He asked as if he didn't know.
"Oh- hi Iwazumi." You replied, shaken from the impact of him both physically and emotionally.
"im not ready for you to forget me."
"What are you doing here?" He asked, not minding any listening ears near by.
"I'm just...trying to have fun." You explained, feeling drained by his presence.
"tell you you're beautiful then stab you in the back"
"Well, you look great." He offered, remembering how great you felt in his arms, not wanting you to bed in this random guys arms tonight instead. "Careful with this one," he said to the man. "Shes a lot to handle."
"What's that supposed to mean?" You asked, taken back yet again.
"Oh you know. She can be a little much- especially in the bedroom!" He spoke to the man as if he asked, knowing he hadn't slept with you more than one time at Bokuto's birthday party during seven minutes in heaven. It turned into 30 minutes in bliss, which ended in him not speaking to you for a week.
"Excuse me?!" You shouted, shoving Iwa.
"Do you two have something-" The man started.
"No!"
"Yup."
You both stood silent, staring at each other. Why would he say yes-
"Sorry buddy, you can have her tonight though." Iwa patted the man on the back, walking away.
"Uh, I'm not gonna get in the middle of all of that- sorry sweetheart." The man said, offering a sorry expression and walking away.
Anger bubbled up in your chest and your eyes found Iwazumi's figure walking to the bathrooms.
Storming into the men's bathroom, you looked around, only seeing Iwazumi. Locking the door, you were determined to hash this out once and for all.
"this is the end this is the end this is the end of me"
"Hey, this is the mens bathroom-" He began, interrupted by your hands on his chest, shoving him.
"What in the FUCK what that?! You don't get to not talk to me for days and then- GOD we only had sex ONE FUCKIN TIME IWA." You shouted.
"Dont care. Dont want you in some random assholes bed." He stood his ground, looking down at you- down your dress momentarily.
"Oh but it's okay for you to fuck anything on legs, yeah? You're such an asshole- you don't get to choose for me."
"I'm just helping you out, princess."
"HELPING ME OUT?! Helping me out. Well, you can help by figuring out what the fuck you want from me. I'm done being used by you. I'm done going days being ignored and I'm done pretending I dont lo-" You shouted through fresh tears.
"Dont." He interrupted, stepping closer to you.
"Dont what? Say I love you?" You challenged.
"You dont."
"Yes I fucking do Iwaizumi." You stood your ground, stepping closer to him, noticing the breath hitch in his chest.
"Fuck." He muttered, his hand finding the back of your neck and kissing you. Kissing you like you were oxygen and the world was running out. Kissing you like a starved man finding food in the desert. Kissing you like-
Like he loved you.
But he didn't right?
Pushing you against the sink, he put his hands on the back of your thighs, setting you on the counter.
"Y/n I- fuck. What are you doing? With me? Why me? You can do so much better- I'm the worst." He asked, foreheads touching.
"Hajime. I wish I knew why I'm so drawn to you. You're my best friend- you get me." You whispered.
"What if I hurt you?" He asked, pain in his chest.
"What if you don't?"
His mind raced with that thought, diving into fantasies of being together with you, kissing you whenever he wanted, sharing a bedroom, having kids maybe.
His mouth found yours again as he pulled your hips closer to him, his center in-between your spread legs.
You felt the straps of your dress being pulled down, revealing your braless chest.
"Shit, Y/n. So pretty. So perfect-" His lips landed on your right nipple, hand tweaking the left as you moaned. You threw your head back and felt your heart flutter.
"Haji-" You moaned out, needing him. He was what you needed. He always was.
"More." He said, pushing your dress up your legs and taking your soaked panties off. "Need you." He muttered out, lips attaching themselves to your neck, a finger diving into your entrance, causing you to scream out in pleasure. You hands searched for his hardening dick through his pants, finding it and rubbing it.
"Shit Iwa." Your moans egged him on, another finger burying itself inside you as he searched for the spot that would make you twitch.
And when he found it, you were putty in his hands.
"Haji!" You screamed, your hand gripping his dick through his pants and making him groan into your ear. "Please please please!" You begged him, needing to cum.
"Cum on my fingers, princess. Remind me what it feels like. C'mon baby." The feeling of his breath as he whispered names to you sent you over the edge. Cumming all over his hand, you moaned him name over and over.
Iwaizumi pulled his pants down, spitting in his hand and stroking his cock as you came down from your first high.
"Need to be in you." He muttered, lining himself up, not waiting for you to be fully done riding out your orgasm.
Thrusting in, you both moaned out at the same time. Nothing has ever felt as good as his cock in you. The world was fuzzy as you became overstimulated from him fucking you so hard.
His right hand behind your head as he kissed and bit your neck all over, leaving marks. His left hand holding your hips down so he could rut into you properly.
"Mine." He growled against your neck, needing to mark you. "You're fucking mine. I'm yours- shit. I'm yours Y/n. Take me please. Yours yours yours." The words fell off of his lips, finally saying what he's wanted to all along. And he meant it.
"Mine! Fuck Haji- you're mine promi-ise!" You moaned out, feeling everything collide in your core.
"Gonna fuck you forever- only pussy I need. Only one I wa-ant. Fuck baby."
"Haji-i-i! Too-oo much- fuck!" You screamed out, second orgasm coming fast as his first approached.
"Hold it for me, princess. Wan' cum with you." He muttered, feeling your walls tighten and strangle his cock.
"Ca-ant!" You yelled, trying to hold back as he thrusted, his dick twitching inside of you, hips stuttering.
"Fucking hold it." He demanded, fingers gripping your hip harder with every second that passed and he felt himself get closer.
"Cum with me princess." He said, letting you both fall over the edge, you head resting in his shoulder as he continued to fuck him cum into you on the bathroom counter.
Heavy breaths filled the room as you came down from your highs. He lifted your chin from his shoulder, kissing you softly.
"You mean it, Haji?" You asked, overly sensitive and needing to be told everything you want to hear.
"'Course I do. 'S always been you princess." He felt his chest tighten as he realized what he's admitted to.
"could you love me at my worst?"
Pulling out, he helped you clean yourself off with toilet paper- joys of bathroom sex.
You both got dressed and you face the mirror, fixing your hair and makeup as best as you could.
You both walked out together, his hand in yours as you walked down the street to your apartment. That's why he ended up at yours all the time, after all. You were close. You made sense.
Changing into a big t-shirt, Iwaizumi stripping down to his boxers, you both cuddled in your bed, his own scent the only one on him besides your own perfume. His scent able to really seep into your sheets.
"demons are friends, angels are enemies."
You fell asleep with a smile.
He fell asleep with self destructive thoughts racing through his head. He's never been good at fighting those demons telling him he's not enough and doesn't deserve you.
----
You woke up and rolled over, expecting to see your Haji.
But the bed was empty. Every trace of him was gone besides the smell of him on your bed.
In that moment you knew- you were going to be stuck in this pattern with him forever. And you couldn't stop it.
And in 2 weeks when he calls you apologizing, you would let him crawl back into your bed.
Fresh tears streamed down your face as you rolled back over, holding your pillow tightly, crying yourself back to sleep.
"Could you love me at my worst?"
----
Iwaizumi walked into the apartment he shared with Oikawa, spotting the brunette sitting on the couch drinking his coffee.
"When are you gonna stop this shit with Y/n? You're hurting her." Oikawa asked lightly.
"It'll hurt more if I-"
"Youre a pussy, Hajime. Grow up." Oikawa spoke harshly, standing up and walking past him to his bedroom, ready to text you about how you deserve better, knowing you'd never let yourself let Iwaizumi go. No matter how badly you both hurt, this toxic cycle was permanent.
Stepping into the shower, Iwaizumi thought about last night and how you felt. In his arms, around his dick, everything.
He cried for 30 minutes in the shower before crawling into his bed, crying himself to sleep as well.
"Could you love me at my worst?"
The answer would always be yes, no matter how bad the worst gets.

Love was never in your cards, it was something you actively avoided because you watched too many people be hurt by it. Friends, family, dummies on television... There was one singular time you let your guard down and tried to give in to the fluttery feeling someone gave you—but as you expected, he hurt you. He left you alone, couldn't care less that he ripped your heart out and made you watch. You had to pick up the pieces. You swore to never love again.
You abided by it too, for as long as you could. Anytime someone showed romantic interest, you came up with the lamest excuses to brush it off. Deep down though, there was a pit that even you couldn't fill, lacking romance, some sort of intimacy. You yearned for something more than just the lonely aftermath of a long night out and being the only one without someone holding your hand and kissing your forehead, or showering you with sweet-nothings.
It felt like a never-ending cycle. That was, until you met him.
Luigi Mangione. A bundle of tender quirks all bonded by the glue that was his big heart. His innocent artery that always beat for someone else rather than himself—somehow always chewed him in the ass. The sweetest souls were always the victims of the devil's passion. Luigi was the representation of how humans should be: compassionate and understanding.
He never asked for anything, but he did everything for everyone else.
That day—the first time you laid your eyes on him—life never felt the same. Your chest caved, throat tightened, knees weakened. His smile was something that could brighten the world's eternal darkness. His laugh was the only true melody that could bring someone from a lifetime's slumber. Maybe it was a crush—maybe it wasn't.
You became friends, very good ones actually. Every night, you two had dinner, even if it was cheap cups of ramen from the gas station while the two of you died of an almost-heatstroke when the air conditioning went out in the UPenn dorms. He hadn't joined the frat yet. Luigi was the epitome of someone you knew you could entrust with all of your deepest secrets. and he would lock them away in his mind like a chest of special truths from you.
"How long do you think we'll be friends?" You asked jokingly, you were both sleep-deprived and way in over your heads that night.
"Forever."
"That's a long time."
"Well, I know when someone is special enough to stay in my life forever."
"I guess I'm special enough then?"
"You're more than special."
His words had your hearts in knots, what do you mean he wanted you to stay in his life...forever?
"I hope we're friends forever."
"I hope so too."
Luigi was so tender, so raw and honest.
Unfortunately, he was honest. He mentioned he had a crush on a particular girl on UPenn's campus, a sweet girl with auburn hair, beautiful blue eyes and smarts one could wish for. Lea was her name. Lea Reagan. A sweet girl really, someone who was so pure, not a single bone of hatred in her body. One-of-a-kind soul. And Luigi gushed, his cheeks spilled red every time he mentioned her name, he'd scratch his neck nervously if he spoke to her, and his friends always teased him about the girl.
You supported him, teased his little crush, tried to help him with asking her out. He didn't for a while, he was too nervous. He paced your dorm for two hours before gathering the courage to ask her for her number later that afternoon. You never interfered, never told him, there was no point, his sparkling, hazel eyes were set on someone else. And it wasn't you. Your brain kept reminding you of that.
"God, I'm nervous." He murmurs as you help him fix his tie, dust off lint from his tux. His first date with Lea. Something you could only dream about.
"You'll be fine." You say softly, running the lint roller over his suit, picking up fuzz and dust. "I haven't been on a date in years."
"I haven't been on one ever, you're going to be fine."
"Thanks..." He trails off, his eyes lingered a little too long on you in the mirror, when you notice, they dart. They escape to the floor, and for a moment you let yourself believe that maybe this whole Lea thing is a cover-up and he actually liked you.
"You look very handsome, Lu." You compliment gently, he looks up at you, hopeful. "Really? You think I look handsome?" His question is almost as if he can't believe you're the one telling him he looks good.
"Yes, I do." You murmur, adjusting his tie one final time.
His lips curve, his little fangs show off proudly as he puffs his chest like a schoolboy with a crush. "Thank you."
You nod, and his date goes well. In fact, they go on a few more. More than you could've wished for yourself, you never imagined promise rings, weekly outings, road trips on spring break... Lea was living your dream with the person you loved.
Luigi—he was your best friend, but it was clear you weren't his anymore.
You sat alone at night now, watched scary movies by yourself, and ate the cheap ramen in silence without Luigi's absurdly loud slurping. No one to ramble to but yourself. No calls, no texts, just assignments stacked up behind your back like a lurking stalker. It made you sick how in love he was with Lea. Not jealousy, loss. You lost interest in everything, you lost the one thing that made you actually smile.
Love was ruthless and somehow it got its calloused hands around your neck. Choking the life out of you purely because you had caught its disease.
He always had flowers for her, her favorites which seemed to be daisies. Chocolates on Valentine's, PDA. You coughed like a madman every time you witnessed it, not for attention, it was just this uncomfortable lack of air in your lungs you couldn't get rid of. You became so restless to the point you thought you might die from it.
At one point, you and Luigi caught each other, and you were able to hang out as friends again. It wasn't the same of course, you didn't sit as close, or laugh the same way, he was distant.
"How's things?" He asks.
"It's ... fine." You say reluctantly.
He tilts his head, "You don't sound fine."
"Tired."
"Oh."
You wanted to tell him, admit your truth for once, he was so honest about Lea to you.
"I'm okay." You say instead.
"That's good. I've missed you. Us."
Us. What does that even mean? You weren't anything, never were, never will be.
"Us..."
"Yeah, our friendship. Since I started dating Lea I feel like I've lost you."
"Oh.. No, I just got caught up in assignments. I'm sorry."
"I'm not blaming you, don't apologize. I just... I don't want us to wither away just because I'm in a relationship now."
"Right, that'd be ridiculous..." You sighed, bringing your knees to your chest as he fidgeted with his hands. "You're my best friend, Luigi."
His chest caves, he just glances over at you with a gentle look in his eyes. Not one of love. "You'll always be mine too." There was a tension in the air neither of you could deny, because truth be told you both knew you weren't his best friend, his first call, his first thought when something exciting happened. That torch was passed down to Lea. Not passed, reluctantly stolen.
As the months passed you just lost yourself in work, university was over now. The likelihood of ever seeing Luigi again was slim.
About...two years passed.
You lost the one person who has given your life any meaning, the one who cared for you during breakdowns, who always listened to you ramble, who tried to reassure you life wouldn't always be filled with people who hurt you.
It was ironic now.
You were at work when you got the text.
The invitation to "Lea and Luigi's wedding."
And it disgusted you.
You attended, months of planning in his family.. Lea was like an angel as she walked, Luigi's niece came down the aisle with a sweet sass as she bared the rings. You watched Luigi's face contort bittersweetly, wiping his tears on his sleeve. He stood proudly as he wed the woman that you envied for years. When the objections came around, you were almost tempted, but the look in Luigi's eyes stopped you. He looked at her with so much love...
When the dance floor was busy, utensils clanked in the hall as Luigi's friends and family celebrated their son's, cousin's, brother's, lifelong best friend's marriage. You lingered in the corner, greeting people as they did you, but you didn't get in the way. You ate some weird cheesecake a server brought to you.
"Thank you for coming." Luigi spoke softly, he approached you.
"Of course, it's a big day. I wouldn't miss it for the world."
If you could've missed it, you would've.
"I'm just glad you're here."
Then came the toasts, Luigi and Lea sat close together. Smiling as everyone gave their speeches, their best wishes and love. When it got around to you, the air left your lungs. You stand up and put on your best fake but somehow-genuine smile. "Well, first of all, congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Mangione." You have to hold back the crack in your voice.
"I've known you for a while now, Luigi and I have to say I never saw you with someone as great as Lea. You both are great. And um... You know I'll always be here whenever you guys need it." God, this was cheesy, this was stupid. Luigi looks at you reassuringly.
"I'm really happy, Luigi's such an amazing person, he's always been nothing but kind to me and he really deserves this. And Lea, you're so lucky, but also I wish you luck with Luigi's slurping." Your joke causes a table-full of laughter, and your smile feels real-ish. "Much love to you guys." Your eyes met Luigi's, his eyelashes dotted with tears. You knew your speech was nothing too grand, but it still made him tear up.
Before you left, Luigi came back over to you outside of the building. He bumped your shoulder and exhaled, staring at the starry sky. "You're bad at hiding things you know."
"What does that mean?"
"You were so uncomfortable giving your little speech." He laughed.
"Yeah, I'm sorry. I'm not used to doing that stuff."
The silence was unbearable.
"I'm really happy for you."
"Thanks..."
"Luigi?"
"Yeah?"
"I love you."
He tenses a little, his smile is forced. "Thank you."
"I should probably get going though." You say softly, and he nods. "Okay."
"Hope you guys have a fun honeymoon."
"Thank you." You start to walk towards the parking lot.
Then something stops you. Luigi's still standing, watching you with his hands in his pockets. "Wait." He calls out. You do, your body on autopilot and he was your commander. He walks after you slowly, his shoulders slump as he rubs his chin. "Did you mean that? You love me?"
"Of course." You say cautiously.
He looks distraught. "I don't feel the same. I love you. As a friend."
"T-that's what I meant." You flush.
"I can tell you're lying."
"Lu..." He bites his inner cheek and avoids looking at you. "How long?"
"Since we met."
"Why now..." You shrug at his response, trying to figure out why as well. "I don't know, I'm sorry.."
"I'm...It's okay." He says slowly.
Every picture on Instagram, the cheesy ones posted by his mom on Facebook and all of his friends' congratulatory posts makes you choke. It brings you no comfort, only a relentless reminder of what you've lost. Luigi didn't reach out anymore.
Any text you sent was marked as "Delivered."
Never opened.
Something about it hurt more than him actually getting married. The fact he didn't want to talk to you anymore because you confessed to him after his wedding. It was understandable but so hurtful.
The person you spent hours with, helped score his date, the one who tutored you through crappy math, the person who said you'd be friends forever was gone.
And it killed you.
Literally.
You knew Luigi would never reciprocate the love you had for him, but god, he could've at least acknowledged it better. You curled up in bed with a heavy feeling in your lungs, and your heart beating slower every second. Like someone was inside of your chest and snipping every heart string you had left. You found an old photo of the two of you and started crying on cue. You felt so miserable but what else were you supposed to do?
Maybe it was depression, or a real broken heart.
There was one moment, you saw him in line at a grocery store and he almost stumbled reassuring himself it was you. Your eyes shared a temporary secret, love that was and never would be.
You started feeling sick, like a cold or flu; but when you went to the doctor, and their tests said you were perfectly healthy. It was weird, every day you were coughing more and more like there was something stuck in your throat, and it bloomed like a flower, causing your lungs to feel heavy. It hurt more when you thought about him.
You tried moving on, forgetting, but when you did, you felt heavier, lightheaded, you choked on petals but you were convinced you were delusional and seeing things, maybe it was a dream.
It had to be, so you ignored it.
Until at some point, in your sleep the flowers bloomed right out of your lungs, the love you held back buried a seed inside the organ keeping you alive. Now it's taking you out.
It shocked everyone, confused the daylight out of them, that you were just gone with no reason, healthier than most your age, still young.
Luigi didn't know what happened. All he knew was regret. He put his hand over your cold one, his eyes looked at your porcelain, pale face.
"...I love you too."
