Things you see in a parking lot
So, I locked myself out of my car and I’m sitting on the trunk, waiting for the locksmith and I see a guy leave his parked car to walk toward the shopping center. A car swings sharply toward him and the handicapped parking space he’s not quite walked into yet and BLARES the horn at him. He jumped backward and kind of stared for a second, since he was stopping for the car and y’know, pedestrians have the right of way in parking lots. I laughed out loud and gave him a “lol stupid drivers” headshake, which made him smile as he walked away.
Car door opens and I hear the driver screaming “YOU CANT JUST WALK WHEREVER YOU WANT WITH YOUR FACE IN YOUR CELL PHONE!!” She is apparently yelling at the passenger and continues to loudly bemoan the state of the universe that includes cell phones.
She gets out and turns so I can see her face and it’s someone I used to work with. She hated me when we worked together, verbally abused me and made me cry (at 28 in my first full time job). Since retiring, she has been nothing but cheerful toward me.
It’s kind of nice to know I didn’t imagine all the abuse and Pam’s still an asshole.
Occasionally I'm like "I like hills and mountains, I like cliffs and otherwise rocky coastlines, I like waterfalls and gently flowing streams and crystal clear lakes, why do I still live in the Netherlands?" But then I rent a bicycle for a few hours in literally any other country, even ones that are considered 'good for cycling', and I'm like - ah, that's why
