Y/N had arrived at the mafia around a month ago, and though it took some time, they seemed to fairly quickly fall into the day-to-day life of the mafia. Whether it was going on 'adventures', interacting with the crew daily, or overall trying to keep their mind busy and away from the darker sides of this new, terrifying digital life, they at least seemed to have claimed their own spot in this digital world.
Y/N had mostly gotten used to the majority of the crew; Jax used them as bait their first week in, and they had some heartfelt moments with Ragatha. Not to mention the few moments they had sat down and chatted with Zooble and Gangle, the pair was often together. But there was still one figure that gave them chills when around. Caine, the boss of the mafia itself, though they found they weren't alone when feeling that way. It had turned out that most of the crew seemed to try to shrink away when he was around. Y/N could remember seeing Gangle shrink behind Zooble during one of Caine's longer meetings. And there was a time they remembered seeing Jax flinch from Caine getting just a bit too close to him once.
But there was something extra that seemed to give Y/N goosebumps. The drifting eyes and a gaze that seemed to linger on them a bit longer than the rest of the crew. Y/N hoped they were hallucinating it, or maybe they were just overthinking. They told themselves that maybe it was because they were the newest of the crew….
One night after a harsher one of Caine's 'adventures', the crew returned, most of them bruised and hurting in one way or another. The crew dispersed pretty quickly. Each of them headed off to their rooms to wash up and to patch up the best they could. Y/N happened to stay in the main hall area for just a few moments longer than the others before heading to their door, bedroom key in hand. They themselves were pretty beat up. Bruises that ran along their ribs and neck from a rogue contact who took a good few swings at them. It caught everyone off guard, but in the end, the bruises will fade over time.
"Rough day?" The voice seemed to appear from nowhere, causing Y/N to jump a bit. It was deep, smooth, and to know who it came from gave Y/N chills. They swallowed hard before peering up from their door. The view of the Ringmaster himself, gently floating off the ground just a few feet from them. They don't remember seeing him in the hallway when they came down this way, and his gaze glued on their figure made Y/N freeze like a deer in headlights.
Y/N swallowed hard before speaking, "Oh, yeah, just some bruises, though. We all should be fine." Y/N spoke, trying to sound confident, but they never fully looked towards Caine; just his presence so close made their skin crawl. It was as if their body were warning them of danger.
There was silence for only a long moment, then there was a light pressure on Y/N's chin, Caine's hand tilting their head up to meet him. His sharp fangs are now inches from their face. His golden fang shimmered a bit under the hallway's dim lights as he tilted his head the slightest bit. He held a gentle yet tight enough grip to stop Y/N from pulling their head away. His gaze was glued on them as he seemingly scanned their body from head to toe.
It felt like minutes passed in silence. Y/N's body frozen as Caine scanned their face a body, only occasionally using his grip on their face to tilt their chin up. "It's a pity to see such pretty skin like yours bruised in such ways." Caine's voice sent shivers down Y/N's spine. Caine's free hand ran over an exposed bruise on their neck, pressing in just enough for the bruise to send a painful jolt into Y/N's skin. Y/N's eyes widened as they tried to back away towards their bedroom door, a soft whimper escaping their lips as Caine pressed into the delicate, freshly bruised skin some more.
Caine, feeling Y/N try to pull away, simply followed them. His body pinning Y/N between him and their bedroom door. "Though I must say, I think some marks and bruises look nice too…" Caine's voice trailed off just a bit as he spoke. His eyes were glued to the little bits of bare skin Y/N had out for him to see. And oh, how he loved to see. In his mind, he was already planning out every new mark he'd love to leave on Y/N's delicate skin. The bruises and brandings that he leaves on their skin to make his claims on their body. The thought alone made him almost want to completely devour them right here and now.
As he gently pressed into the bruise once again, he watched as Y/N's body shivered nervously to his touch. The light pain made them flinch slightly. "Do you fear me, Y/N?" Caine asked even though he knew the answer, but something about the fear in Y/N's eyes made something in him ignite. He loved the face they made when scared. Even now, he could see the slight shiver of Y/N's lower lip, and he chuckled softly as one of his fingers lightly traced the edge of it. The look on their face was almost intoxicating to him. His face was dangerously close to Y/N's as he pictured it. That delicate face staring up at him, their eyes only for him as he'd leave mark after mark on their body until they pleaded and begged. A soft growl slipped from him as the thought raced through his head.
Just as Caine was about to speak again, he paused, perking up as he heard a door handle down the hall creak as it started to turn. Caine grumbled softly, though he would love to take Y/N right now, make the whole hallway aware of his claim to them. He had to admit, he also enjoyed the chase. He wasn't fully done playing with them just yet; the chase had only just begun. Caine wanted to savor the moment. To be able to take his time as he broke Y/N.
So he would wait, knowing he would see Y/N's terrified face in his hands again. He leaned in, whispering in their ear, his hot breath gently touching the skin of their neck. "Till we meet again…" and Caine snapped his fingers, disappearing into a black smoke that faded away in seconds.
With Y/N free from Caine's grip, they slumped against their door, sliding down it until they were firmly seated on the ground. Their mind raced with what Caine said and did. It happened so quickly; was it possible they just imagined it all? No, they couldn't have, right?
Only a few moments passed, but it felt like hours as their mind scrambled to put the pieces together. Their heart, though digital, could be felt pounding harshly against their chest. In that moment of silence, a voice spoke up, snapping Y/N out our their thoughts. "Uh… Y/N? You good?" Y/N's head snapped up. The familiar purple rabbit, Jax, was standing in front of them, looking both confused and a bit annoyed.
"Uh - Yeah. Yeah. Guess I'm just extra tired." Y/N spoke quickly as they scrambled to their feet, their room key still barely held in their hand. They were still a bit shaky as they tried to put their key into the lock a few times, each time the shake from their hands causing the key to scrape along the bronze of the door keyhole.
Jax, seeing the struggle, sighed. Though he didn't see what had happened between Y/N and Caine, he wasn't gonna leave someone on the verge of panicking outside their bedroom door. His steps were slow, but Jax walked up behind Y/N and, by placing the back of his hand on theirs, he helped them steady their movement just enough so that they could unlock their door.
"There. Didn't think unlocking a door would be something you need me for, but hey, I'll add it to the things that you need to be babied about." Jax spoke with a smart ass smile on his face. He was clearly just trying to be an ass, but the joke, as rude as it may be, did calm Y/N's nerves some.
Y/N merely chucked at the joke, their constitution still shaken as they waved Jax off, thanking them as they walked inside their room and closed the door. On any other night, Y/N may have asked Jax why he was up at this hour, or where he was going. But they didn't question him tonight as they were just thankful he had left them room at the time he did….
