"Some of us have hard lives to live, and some of us have everything we care about taken away by f*ckers like you."
This line makes me feel so bad for our Cowboy π
Picture it:
A younger Striker (who isn't as skilled as what we currently see) who fell in love with someone whose name is popular but not in a negative light, and does not pay attention to any who want their attention except of course our dear Striker.
Enter a fame-hungry individual who is also known throughout the rings of Hell, around the same age as Striker. Tabloids covering the fact that he is a wealthy and young individual, looking to marry, and Reader happens to be on individual's radar. Their attempts are shot down by the reader in favor of Striker every time and they refuse to lose to some Wrathian hick.
One night, Striker and his partner at the time are bar hopping, and the power-hungry loser wants to have Striker's partner all to themself because our dear reader is so captivating and charming, as well as having a reputation of some kind as well. An all-out bar fight ensues, and Striker is losing the fight due to being overpowered and outnumbered.
In a desparate attempt to save Cowboy's life, his partner makes a deal to marry the assailant as long as they leave Striker alone. In one last attack, one of Striker's teeth is punched out (or pried out). Reader asks to say one last goodbye to a barely conscious Striker, and leaves him with a pure gold locket/chain that he eventually forges into his gold fang. A simple reminder to Striker of when times were good.
Reader reluctantly goes through with the wedding, and is miserable. The demon they married got bored and "fell out of love" with Reader, and begins to bring home other partners, but refuses to break off the marriage. Basically the husband is crap, but reader is legally bound to stay married. As the years pass, Reader always wonders what Striker is up to, hoping that their d-bag of a spouse kept his promise and has NOT gone after Striker. [Side note: Reader NEVER fell out of love with Striker]
This is pure angst. I also tried to pitch this as GN as I could, I also my writing sucks π idk this has been in my mind for awhile now. I hope S3 expands on Cowboy's backstory. Please feel free to laugh at this mind drabble of mine π
Yessssss, I'm always here for Striker angst. He's just such a good vessel for it π©π€
I also really love the idea of a past love, losing sight of each other but still having that yearning. It's the good stuff!
I think I remember seeing a fic at some point where Striker takes a job and his victim turns out to be someone he loved when he was younger, now married to someone else? I think?
It's a good fucking concept though forever separated has another special kind of β¨hurt β¨ to it, y'know?
