Also just in general please please talk to me about Zoey and Ellie respectively meeting baby Molly? (And maybe Jed meeting her too?) In an Ellie/Andy context or not!
ohhhh I get so emotional any time I think about this!!! tysm for the ask 💗
Baby Molly comes up in conversation when Ellie is just talking to Zoey about anything and everything to keep her awake and help her not Freak Out. Of course Zoey starts crying when Ellie tells her the name, and Ellie is tearing up too, thinking about her Molly and Andy and the babies she knows are so important to her. Zoey wants to meet the twins, and Abbey begrudgingly agrees she can travel the few floors' difference. Meeting the babies, Zoey is just so quiet, and Abbey and Ellie are both worried by how still she is. But when little Molly wraps a hand around Zoey's finger, she smiles, and now it's Abbey's turn to tear up, too.
Ellie hasn't spent a lot of time with Andy in the latter half of her pregnancy, because with everything with Toby and the election it felt easier to fade into the background rather than risk rejection. But when she comes to visit the babies Andy gets out of bed despite her protests and hugs her so tightly that Ellie feels guilty for staying away. They've all heard the story about the catastrophe with the house by now, but when Andy makes eye contact with Ellie and says he knew I was never going to say yes, Ellie feels like she might be sick.
Abbey tells Andy how beautiful the twins are, and promises that she and Jed will send a card, and something useful instead of just flowers. They send a mobile from a boutique in Manchester, and when she hangs it up, Andy tells the twins that in a few years they're gonna think it's really cool that their baby mobile was a gift from The Literal President. She thinks about how Molly's name was a sort of gift, too, but that story is going to wait longer than the mobile before she tells it.
Ellie is the only one to visit once Andy and the twins are home. She's visibly uncomfortable and doesn't know what to say, so Andy gives her baby Molly to hold, and they both sit in silence with the twins for a while. When she realizes Ellie is crying, Andy cradles Huck in just one arm so she can kiss Ellie's cheek and rub her back. They don't talk a lot that afternoon, but Ellie starts coming over almost every week.
(One time she's there when Toby comes to visit. Andy doesn't explain. Toby doesn't ask.)
For the AU fun facts: AU where instead of Zoey, they kidnapped Ellie (who happened to be out on a 'date' with a very pregnant Andy at the time)?
ohhh yes I think we've discussed this concept in passing!! definitely a juicy one 😈 cw for discussions of drugging and pregnancy; mentions of vomiting.
1. having something to focus on is already one of the ways Ellie staves off panic attacks in high-stress situations. she's trying to remember anything from her OB rotation in med school, which, given that they're both drugged and Ellie probably has a concussion too, mostly results in her slurring mnemonics about the stages of labor as she tries to do a head-to-toe assessment on Andy.
2. Andy is more worried about her babies than anything else. She's counting kicks even when she can hardly think straight. When she gets dosed with whatever sedative their kidnappers are using, she's not worried about what they might do to her, but she panics at the thought that she doesn't know what the drugs could do to the twins.
3. Zoey was the only one who knew about Andy and Ellie before All Of This, but when Ellie's being kidnapped, she's in the club bathroom with Gina holding her hair back while she pukes. She is having The Worst Trip Ever. When she does get back to the Residence, Abbey has to tell her multiple times what's going on; she can't quite seem to ground herself in reality. Maybe she mumbles something about Ellie being out with Andy when she hasn't been Told That yet, but nobody quite notices at the time.
Started planning out a Casual andyellie hook-up and it almost immediately went to something surprisingly kinky for Ellie especially and now this might just become some trauma informed kink instead but we'll see 😭
ooh ohh!!! a modern royalty au?
Send me an AU and I give you five headcanons for it!
Oooh this would be so interesting.
You didn’t specify characters or ships and I love the free range so we’re gonna focus this on Ellie, specifically Ellie/Andy. Since the US doesn’t have its own royal family, I’m just kinda going off vibes and facts about some European families I know.
1. So of course, for this, we’re going to say that Jed Bartlet is King Josiah. Abbey is the queen, their daughters are princesses, and I think what I’m gonna do is kinda mix how most modern royal families work and say that most of the senior staff in the show is still senior staff to the American government, not the royal family, but they work closely together. King Josiah isn’t really in charge of the country, but he’s certainly involved with the people who are.
2. Liz would have been the heiress to the throne, the crown princess, if it weren’t for the fact that she married Doug. In this, I’m gonna say Doug’s not Catholic, and for a long time the British royal family had a rule that said an heir to the throne could not marry a Catholic and could not be Catholic, and since we know the Bartlets are very much Catholic, I think it could be fun to switch that around. By choosing to marry a non-Catholic, Liz knew she was giving up the throne, and she was perfectly fine with that.
3. This makes Princess Eleanor of America the crown princess. She kind of had a Spare thing going on, before Liz got married and made that choice for both of them and Ellie really wishes she hadn’t. There are so many things Ellie wishes she could be doing instead of getting ready to become Queen. She can have fun side projects (the Dutch King occasionally used a fake name to be a pilot on commercial flights without anyone knowing, shit happens) but she can’t have the career she wants in canon.
4. Andy is, much like in canon, a Congresswoman and the ex wife of, in this case, one of the King’s political advisors. Being gay in royal families is a thing anyway, it gets complicated especially for an heir to the throne (in the Netherlands, crown princess Amalia would need permission from the government to marry a woman; and while the government’s always made it clear they will give that permission should it be necessary, that’s still weird; but she could!) Princess Eleanor catches the eye of this Congresswoman and they both know how wildly internationally scandalous of an affair this would be.
5. I’m now actually thinking about such a cliche romance trope thing but picturing Eleanor making Andy one of her own political advisors when she starts getting seriously ready to take over the throne. Andy might have to resign from Congress technically but this is fantasy and we can easily say she can do this in addition to being in the House. The package includes free stays in the palace and kissing the future Queen in a golden carriage.

The West Wing - CJ/Liz, Ellie/Andy - Rated T - 2,811 words - Read on AO3 - Excerpt under the cut
written for @twwpride day 18: coming out
Ellie assumes she won't be missed when she sneaks away to the hayloft with Andy, but Liz and CJ have apparently had the same idea.
TWW fic: a little fun
Title: a little fun Pairing: Andy Wyatt/Ellie Bartlet Rating: M Words: 1300 Summary: A one night stand followed by another one night stand months later, and Andy wakes up with the President's Daughter naked in her bed. She sees only one way to deal with that: kissing her and making her breakfast. Link: AO3 Excerpt:
It’s only the second time she’s ever slept with Eleanor Bartlet. The first time — in Andy’s hotel room near John Hopkins, just a few floors above a medical fundraiser they’d both been trying to escape — was months ago. It was supposed to be a one-night stand. Eleanor’s first time, yes, but just one night all the same. Less than a month after Andy’s divorce; just two weeks before Eleanor’s first birthday as a First Daughter of this country. A single night to find some relieve from the pressures of their new-found daily lives. A few months ago she took the virginity of the President’s daughter; she hasn’t asked if Eleanor has been with anyone since, but she doubts it. She’s not surprised at all that Eleanor Bartlet has no idea how to behave herself the morning after. It’s no problem.
A fic snippet for you! From my Ellie and Andy wip:
Eleanor has her arms curled around herself now like she’s holding herself together. She stopped dyeing her hair sometime in the last year and the blonde is mostly gone, leaving soft brunette in its place. There are dark circles under her eyes and Andy wonders how long it’s been since she slept. She looks at Andy, and Andy can see unshed tears glittering in her eyes.
“Ellie,” Andy says softly. Two of the Secret Service agents have disappeared, one likely back outside to keep watch, and Cam has faded into the shadows. She sees a flash of what looks like dried blood on Ellie’s fingertips. Her nails are a jagged mess. Ellie has bitten them to the quick.
Andy’s heart lurches. What the hell is going on?
“Ellie, what is it?”
Nothing can prepare her for the next words that come out of Eleanor Bartlet’s mouth.
“I’m pregnant.”
Andy blinks, taken aback, but there’s no possibility that she misheard, not from the way Ellie spat out the words, clearly even with the tremble in her voice. Andy ignores the pang in her own heart as she reaches out her arms for Ellie, guiding her to the couch without a moment’s hesitation, not asking her about it, not yet. Only when she’s got Ellie settled down onto the couch does she open her mouth to say, “Are you–”
“Sure?” Ellie finishes her question for her, and Andy feels a lick of shame for even asking. Hadn’t she hated that question herself, for all those years? But still, she had to ask.
“Yes, I’m sure. Detected by two top-of-the-line home pregnancy tests, one two days ago, one yesterday. Confirmed, by my gynecologist, via bloodwork this morning,” Ellie says quietly. Her voice is clinical. “I am definitely, 100% pregnant.”
Andy realizes that that is the other thing that she noticed was off about Ellie–she is holding her arm gingerly, like it hurts her. If she got bloodwork done this morning, that would explain it. If she were to roll up Ellie’s sleeve, she’s sure she would see a bruise, maybe even a gauze pad still held on with medical tape at her elbow.
Eleanor Bartlet is pregnant.
Oh I love this. I love this so much. You KNOW I am so excited about this fic, and I just love the concept of Ellie seeking out Andy after she finds out she’s pregnant. Because who else is that close to her, and understands the nuances of being pregnant and unmarried in such a public position the way Andy could?? Even if they make different decisions in the end, Andy gets it at such a personal level.
I love that Ellie’s already done blood tests, she’s SURE, and she’s stopped dyeing her hair and Andy notices all these small things about how she’s sitting and how her arm’s hurting and oh I love it. It’s so good. I am just so excited about this!!
