A lot of women, unfortunately, place an excessive value on male attention. Because of that they try to put other women down if they perceive them as receiving even the slightest attention from men—whether that attention is wanted or not. Also, I've noticed that in my office, a man who simply minds his own business, behaves politely, and treats others with basic decency is often praised as if he's exceptionally virtuous. Yet when a woman behaves the same way, she rarely receives the same admiration or recognition. Instead, she's more likely to be viewed through a more critical lens and she will probably get picked on a lot because other women feel jealous. I don't know if this is right but I feel out of all oppressed groups women have the least solidarity among themselves. I honestly hate the women-only get togethers in my office now because all they seem to do is constantly praise men for the bare minimum, speaking whose husband/boyfriend is the worst(it's mostly about their misogynistic behaviours which are labelled as "cute" btw), and preaching about proper womenhood and modesty and then asking you personal questions on your lack of love life or whatever.
Every word you have said is something I have experienced to high degree and I am sick of it.
Even worse things than you mentioned.
I have no words for everything I have gone through due to such women including planned sabotages. I just pray one day we will finally come to our senses and stop all this petty jealousy, competitive environments and policing nonsense.
I pray more girls develop better self esteem and upbringing ( more gender neutral, motivating and less abusive) in their youth so as women they won't turn out to have unresolved insecurity and become harmful friends, peers, coworkers or family members to other women.
I hope they also realize they don't have to "compromise" their goals, interests or personality to get a man's attention or get married and stay married. Or compete with other women either for the same.
And also just that your relationship status is not a metric to measure social success or femininity or whatever makes them think will improve.
Thank you for your response. Reading about other women who have gone through similar experiences as me or awareness about this lack of solidarity amongst us makes me feel better and more hopeful.
