Okay, but imagine what was going through Cas's head after The Empty brought him back to life in the beginning of season 13. I mean, he honestly didn't die being on the best of terms with Dean. It's not like they had a huge falling out, but they were kind of fighting. First Dean was mad at him(because he was worried) for dodging their calls for days to weeks. Then he felt betrayed after Cas came home just to take the Colt and ditch. Then Dean was infuriated again when Cas knocked the boys out and disappeared with Kelly. After all of that, The Empty tells Cas that "there is nothing for you back there", so when the poor guy went back to Earth, he was probably wondering if Dean would even want to see him again. When he finally calls the boys and sees them at that phone booth, you can see on his face and in his eyes that he is worried about what the boys think of him and that he feels guilty for everything he has gotten them into. Imagine how all of this pain, regret, and fear was instantly and effortlessly flushed away when Dean did all but hesitate to pull Cas into his arms and let him know how much he was missed and how much he is, was, and always will be, needed.
