Hawks had his reasoning for this spiel but I actually love this line so much. He basically said "Japan needs to change for the better, but none of you are bothering to try because you're comfortable to settle where you're at and twiddle your thumbs while maintaining your paycheck. Pussies." Fuck Endeavor; but Hawks' admiration of Endeavor paired with his disinterest of All Might's hero society is one of the best character details in the manga. It's kind of a small background thing to note, yet it says so much about who he is as a person and as a hero. That's my King right there. No. 1 hero Hawks.

  When a character raised in a very strict environment with lots of rules just lists em off to their friends/allies/whatever who had much more relaxed upbringings.   What really gets me,,, the character decides to really show them. Walking, talking, making sure their friends/allies/whatever have proper posture, criticizing their clothes if they wouldn't be ‘satisfactory’ in their upbringing, their voice monotone yet gradually growing ever-so-slightly faster and oh-so-slightly louder with every rule. almost like slam poetry   They never stop to take a breath, they never hesitate, they never stutter, they have heard the rules so often they become so deeply ingrained in their mind that they could recite them in their sleep.   Only stopping when they see the mild horror & shock in their friends’/allies’/whatevers’ eyes and taking a deep breath.
