Stony silence rings from the other end of the line, but Jason knows Bruce is listening. Listening and running through several possibilities of how someone could have gotten this number while simultaneously tracking the call signal.
This is gonna be fucking gold.
Time to sell it.
“Dad,” he sobs, pitching his voice until it breaks, teeth chattering exaggeratedly, “Dad, please, I’m scared, I-“ Jason cuts himself off with a scream and another series of sobs, “Please, I can’t— it’s locked! Please, no, Dad, it’s locked—“
A sharp intake of breath, the dull thump of something heavy colliding unexpectedly.
“Dad!” Jason cries, calling upon every single drama class he’s ever had, “Please… please- it’s almost to zero- please, I’m sorry, please, please, it hurts so much-“
Bruce breaks.
“Jason, Jason, hold on Jaylad, hold on, I will find-“
Jason smashes the phone against the marble dress of the creepy angel standing guard over his grave. The pieces vanish into the wet grass, like an occult offering eaten by Gotham’s soil.
Then Jason turns and walks away with a gleeful little smile.
But not without flipping the stupid angel off one last time.

I know it's all done and in the edit machine but I hope we get actual legit sea-witch mermaids in s2. I just think it'd be neat.
In Honor of Pride
In order to kick off Pride Month, I'm posting links to what I feel are my best fics featuring bisexual characters (both canon and non). I'm starting with THIS ONE featuring Queliot from The Magicians. In series canon this is truly a mastework of queerbaiting. They got together in an alternate reality, Quentin wanted to give it a go with Eliot in this reality, but Eliot shuts him down and Quentin gets back together with his ex girlfriend and then dies. So I wrote Protected. It covers their entire lives together in both realities. There are numerous graphic smut scenes, but I've been told that as a whole it's an emotional roller coaster--which is exactly what I was going for. So here it is:

No when it’s all out in the open, I have to say: co-writing is so much fun!! Honestly, it’s something I have always wanted to do, perhaps a radio play. But never thought it would be a pathetic fetish-story. How glad I am that it was.
It’s not only the fact that it’s so much easier to brainstorm a plotline, and especially the details, how to resolve a tight spot, an impasse, though it really is, so, so much easier with two brains to rattle instead of one. But the best part is in the small stuff that crops up in the process of writing, reading what the other has written and reacting to it. Picking up on details, sometimes seemingly inconsequential, and making a point of referring to it. Even better? Seeing that your writing partner has done just that, has picked up on some detail, or just some wording, and is using it, making a reference, often something very amusing. It’s like a dance really, mixing the form of agreed on steps with improvisation and reacting to that. And everything the other one writes is pure inspiration fodder for your own parts. It’s such a high.
Oh, and there are some parts in the story that are really strengthening my resolve to one day write comedy - in my own language, not sneezy, just some comedy. I always wrote something but it has been this summer I have found a comedy writer in myself. It started starting with the fic Human Habits and then continued both with Anni & Gustaf stories and also Warbler & Tehana. Right now I can’t understand, how is it even possible that I never considered it a genre that kinda comes naturally for me. Shouldn’t be surprised, always was the class clown, later just a clown. Well, perhaps that is some good news at last, perhaps that’s something I might really want to do something with.
My cousins watching the Sonic movie for the 7th time in 4 days:
Me, suddenly remembering why I fell in love with it. Looking up fanart:
So uh... the movie is even better than I remembered???
