...so I was just thinking about the time of the Ancients and how controversial turning humans must have been at first-- of course they knew it had to be done to keep their bloodline going so the Pillars wouldn't fail, but the βcurseβ of vampirism was literally heretical within their religion, a fate so horrible that it drove considerable numbers of them to madness and suicide. There must have been some who questioned whether the binding was worth dooming those humans' souls to an eternity of torment and unrest, to a fate they believed to be far worse than death.
How many of them were opposed to the idea entirely? Vorador calls Janos βthe father of our raceβ-- did Janos act alone in spreading the curse to humanity, or was he just the first to do so? and it's likely Vorador volunteered to become the first turned vampire, but he wasn't shown to be religious and probably didn't have the same negative connotations, while Janos would have believed he was dooming Vorador to eternal damnation... pretty heavy stuff. We don't have any canon cues for what their early relationship was like, but Janos seems the type to feel a lot of guilt over that, even if Vorador was 100% willing and eager.
