Welcome to Episode 141: Operation Sunray & The Tsarichina Hole. Deep in the Bulgarian wilderness, tucked away near the tiny village of Tsarichina, a mystery over 3 decades in the making festers, abandoned, in a long-forgotten man made hole. This deep depression, which has since been filled in with concrete and fenced off to the public by the Bulgarian government, lies off to the side of an unnamed dirt road, now marked only by small stone placard which reads: “The Hole”. On December 6, 1990, the Bulgarian military first broke ground at this location with large excavators and military equipment. But, before doing so, they hastily erected a towering, camouflaged fence line around the perimeter of The Hole for privacy. When curious villagers inquired of the soldiers what they were doing in their small, sleepy town, they were met with silence and stonewalling. Today, the true nature of this ambitious endeavor is still up for debate. In today’s episode, we will unpack the facts and the rumors that have plagued this event for over 3 decades, in the hopes that we may uncover the truth behind this complicated legend full of twists and turns. Listeners may be interested to know that today’s episode has a little bit of almost everything a Hauntie could ever ask for, including: a hunt for cursed royal treasure, a government coverup of epic proportions, mysterious ancient technology, death and mayhem, unexplained aerial phenomena, psychics communing with both ghosts and aliens, and an ancient sleeping entity buried deep within the earth - suspended somewhere between life and death.
