Since this seems to be a topic that people have a bit of varying takes on, in your opinion, what would be a good character arc for Amy in the comicsverse? Like, the end point of her entire arc. Could be Archie or IDW, or just in general.
This is a tricky question to answer because, as a character, Amy has been pulled in dozens of different directions. She's been a damsel in distress, an idealistic hero, a fangirl, a borderline stalker, the obligatory female voice of reason who acts like the boys' mother like in every gamer webcomic, a crossbow-wielding adventurer, the co-leader of a rebel army, and more. There are some key ideas you can pick up on with Sega's take on the character - her fondness for Sonic, her compassion, her occasional temper, her willingness to leap into danger without thinking first, etc. - but she's often just whatever the writers need her to be as the Token Girl
In general, it's also difficult to give the Sega characters "endpoints" because like... they're intended to be relatively static characters who don't grow, so they can easily be slotted into new stories until the end of time. And then you look at Shadow, a character who DID have a clear character arc, and now it's over and they have no idea what to do with him
Anyway, I think first and foremost I would want to see Amy get over her crush on Sonic so that she can be better defined as her own character. He's never ever going to return her affections because it's not a romance-heavy series, so let her move on. Of course, the last decade of Sonic media has already majorly downplayed her crush, so that's not quite as urgent these days. I also just wanna see her get played up as a hotheaded fighter more. It's fun to see Amy get pissed off and go nuts with her hammer. (And she should be playable in the games again.) Beyond that, I don't really know
I'd say the IDW comics have mostly treated Amy well. She's a very prominent character (the only heroes with more appearances are Sonic and Tails), she accepts that Sonic isn't interested but still just kinda likes him casually without getting aggressive about it, she's gotten some really fun fights, and her compassion has gotten to shine through. I think it just took a bit long to ween her off of her role as a leader from Forces, which was never a good fit for her, but she's moved past that now post-Metal Virus. As of Evan's run I think she's pretty spot on. I'm not really sure if I'd change anything in particular. It's the games that I want to return to what's fun about her as a character
