what kind of martial arts were you training in before you quit (or took a break)? referencing your 'since i haven't been in martial arts for well, months' comment. question number two. >:D
Okay, it’s a form of martial arts called “Wu Ying Tao”. It means “The Formless Way” or “The No-Form Way”. What this means is that the system, while teaching certain forms of attacks and defenses, prioritizes what works over what’s taught. I might not use the right block to a punch to my face in a certain situation, but so long as the block does work, it doesn’t matter so much. Anyway, I can break the black rebreakable boards, which are supposed to be as strong as femurs, with either a hand attack or a kick. That’s some major stuff, since a femur is supposed to be tougher than concrete. My Sifu (Sifu is the word used instead of Sensei to refer to the Master) also occasionally taught how to break an opponent’s arm, how to force someone to the ground if they attack you, how to divert someone’s attack if they’re coming at you, stuff like that. Though it’s been a while, so I’m certainly rusty. I’m not white belt, but I’m still an underbelt, and I haven’t gone in a few months. I’ll really have to ask my dad to get me back into the lessons sometime.
Random question time. What kind of music do you listen to, and do you have a favorite band/song?
Well, to be honest, I like all kinds of music. I like gentle classical music, rhythm and blues + classic rock’n’roll, I can deal with rap pretty well, and sometimes, I like to listen to demonized versions of Disturbed songs. As for favorite bands and songs, I guess I just like socialist songs. I love Billy Bragg’s version of The Internationale. I also memorized the lyrics for A las Barricadas. I guess you could say I’m as in love with socialism (and in particular, anarcho-syndicalist communism/anarcho-communist syndicalism) as I am with women. But back to your question, that’s my music taste.
