You hear a lot of βgym brosβ talking about it and how you need to consume protein during this short window or your workout was for nothing.β£β£β£β£β£β£ β£β£β£β£β£β£ But do you really need to consume protein immediately post workout? π€β£β£β£β£β£β£ β£β£β£β£β£β£ Unless you workout faster or train multiple times per day, this isnβt really true according to current knowledge.β£β£β£β£β£β£ β£β£β£β£β£β£ Believe it or not, your bodyβs pretty smart β it wants to preserve muscle mass. Itβs not going to start eating away all your muscle just because it took you a little longer to get to your post-workout meal.β£β£β£β£β£β£ β£β£β£β£β£β£ And even if you train fasted or work out multiple times per day, you still donβt need to panic if you get your post-workout protein 31 minutes after your workout instead of 30.πβ£β£β£β£β£β£ β£β£β£β£β£β£ The anabolic window is vastly exaggerated. Hitting your overall macros for the day is what really is important though!π€β£β£β£β£β£β£ β£β£β£β£β£β£ Personally, I have my post workout meal approximately 30-45 minutes after leaving the gym. If I have a tight schedule, a whey protein shake with a banana or even an acai bowl right away does the trick. πβ£β£β£β£β£β£ β£β£β£β£β£β£ Whether you consume a shake post workout or rather cook a meal an hour or two after the gym, I suggest you doing whatever is more convenient for you and following your preferences.β£β£β£β£β£β£ β£β£β£β£β£β£ Whatβs for sure is that there is absolutely no need to stress when you forget your post workout shake or canβt eat immediately after the workout. But bro u need to slam down a protein shake within 30 mins of your workout or you won't make gains.. but carbs and glycogen stores and spiking insulin... You can't consume more than 40g of protein per meal bc your body can't digest it. -------------------------------------- Get your total calories in that you need for the day in the correct macro breakdown and train consistently.
